I feel like there’s absolutely no downfall in learning how to alternate, but if you’ve played for many many months only single-tapping, alternating is extremely harder to learn. One of the main problems people say alternating has is not being able to stay in rhythm, but that’s just the learning curve imo. Maybe it’s just personal preference, but I believe alternating is overall better 👌

I'm one of those people that have been single tapping my way up the Osu difficulty, however I am now stuck because I can't do streams. My plan is to go back to the very beginning and start with easy songs and forcing myself to alternate, to then eventually get back to the level I am at with single tapping.
@CodecFTW6 жыл бұрын
MeowSaysMe Unfortunately , i have the same issues especially with 200+ bpm I single tapped from 4 years but then when I started playing 5* and higher and those tech maps it’s really difficult to keep up with the bpm with single tapping and it’s really hard to maintain consistency and stamina as it’s really exhausting to do a 4-5 min map with like over 9 AR+ and 200+ bpm some parts are extremely hard to keep up with especially the triples on curves as you really have to start those triples and double bursts with your dominant finger so yeah, in conclusion alternating is a must if you wanna go on high levels of this game , you have to do it all over from 3 star maps up again and it’s gonna take a while.

im a mania player but ive been trying to learn how to be more consistent at alternating in standard for a while now, and something ive noticed is that playing more handstream/generally dense stream maps in mania helps a lot with gaining consistency in tapping in standard, i still normally singletap because i dont have too many issues with finger control or stamina, but i have very bad raw speed so i can only singletap up to 220bpm, so playing trilly mania patterns often helps me a lot with getting accuracy on streams and jumps too fast to singletap

Everybody is different, some people can single tap super fast without much time needed training, some people can naturally alternate without having a dominant finger. In my experience if you're actually used to alternating, accing jumps is just as easy as while singletapping, maybe even easier because it requires practically no stamina no matter what the speed. What's difficult is complex rhythms and stream stamina.

@MYKOLA NECHYPORUK I had that same problem. Practice on low stars so you don't end up spamming. Work your way up till it comes naturally.

it took me years to master alternating between sequences of doubles and triples, what a fucking demonic pattern. regarding stream stamina, i think that's a problem for all styles.

I just started roughly two weeks ago, first began with clicking with my pen, then I hovered and singletapped, then I disabled my mouse keys and kept on singletapping and when I was getting into the "normal" maps I began alternating and for me alternating is much easier. It feels as if I have twice the time for each note and now I started deleting one-star maps. If I'm able to beat a harder map of the same song I delete the previous difficulty. The learning phase was five minutes, because I was still on easy maps.

I only have a couple dozen (if maybe) hours on osu! and I started by single-tapping. But idk if I pushed myself too hard or I have bad wrists but quickly, as I progressed to high 3/low 4 stars, my wrists started to develop some problems. That's when I decided to learn alternating. My suggestion to you, if you have the same issue I do, is to alternate. It helps in the future and doesn't strain your wrist as much. Also, try to not tilt your wrist upward 90 degrees, try to do the opposite.

Alternating is better. Higher skill cap in my opinion when it comes to acc and fcing songs while alternating than single tapping. There are also songs that are pretty much impossible to single tap that are only made possible through alternating and really fast dt maps that require alternating. Single tap fast bpm for rsi 😂

YSoAggressive well almost everyone in top 50 is a single tapper xD

Shiek lmao. Everyone in top 50 are playing alternate, except Emilia, azerite, fils, hvick and few other players.

John Doe Firebat. Vaxei, Mathi, Cookiezi, Rafis? And more. They just alternate on high bpm Jumps or when they are tired.

Shiek and that proves that they are not only singletap players ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

When I started I did single tapping but when like 1 week passed I decided to do alternating, then that was when I realised: I cant get back to single tapping, like at all

Same, though after learning to alternate, I preferred alternating over single tapping.

Omg, good thing I found this by accident through my recommended. I used to play OSU occasionally so I'm still pretty nooby when I decided to play it more often. It's my 3rd day so I guess it's better to become familiar with alternating as well.

Now I'm glad that I started alternating since I started to play osu! If I try to singletap I will get distracted so I just let it flow and alternate everything, my biggest problem is the stamina when I'm trying streams on higher diff maps

I learned how to play by alternating, and sometimes if a map does not have an equal amount of k1 and k2 numbers I will keep on trying untill I get it even and balanced, as all things should be...

Only a 3-4* player here, but decided to try alternating rather than single tapping today and I'm so used to doing it single tap I can barely do a 2* lol so if you're going to alternate do it from the start or you'll be like me

i was ,,hybrid alternating" form the very beggining (after i stopped clicking mouse) For me it was natural to alternate tho i still singletap some double or triple circle bursts

Why did alternating take me like 1 week to adjust lmao, I didn't even have to learn it, but now singletapping is super weird to me

commenting 2 years later, i started playing standard more (mainly osu!mania player) and have no problem single tapping and/or alternating. So I think that mania helps, for those that struggle learning it

I remember that I started to alt type because my OCD was mad that the number on key 1 was larger than on key 2 when I watched my replays

I sometimes alt but i mostly singletap (even on jumps)

Just hybrid alternate.

I started playing Osu July of 2018 and I was using mouse only up until around February of 2019. I naturally was only single tapping until I got to bursts and streams but the fatigue was just awful and there were maps where I just couldnt single tap fast enough. I wondered if I should start practicing alternating. By sheer coincidence this video comes up in my recommended box and after watching I decided I should approach this "hybrid alternation" playstyle. It was a serious struggle and it was only up until around August I got alternating down and I could even do long jumps while alternating. Of course naturally id get better over time, but as I was practicing alternating, my skill and accuracy was sky rocketing. In a matter of just a couple of months I was at like 400k and then I hit 200k. Now having this playstyle more polished, Im only 4k from being a 5 digit. So I credit this video to vastly helping my improvement and overall enjoyment of the game. So for that, I must thank you :)

@xerodight20574 жыл бұрын
I only alternate on fast tapping parts, although I can only alternate if I start on my middle finger or else ill mess up if I start with my pointer finger. Problem is my middle finger get's tired fast so I have to alternate to rest it half way through if there's not a lot of smashing parts where I have to alternate. I lose track of how many taps I need to do if I start fast tapping parts with my pointer. Another problem I have is I can't figure out sometimes how many times I have to tap when a lot of circles are stacked, most times it's only 3 times but when it's more than that and they start to create a line across the screen I just start spamming without knowing how fast I should be tapping.

I've been full alternating since I started osu, I never really watched osu content until later where I would find out my natural tapping method was hard to learn

When I started I found single tapping way too hard so I just decided to alternate. After strickly alternating for about a month I developed an alternate but single tap for the spaced streams or close tech jumps method and it just works for me.
