I grew up in Clay, NY about 2 miles from where Jim lived on Maple Rd when he started his Oswego race career. This was obviously filmed at his newer home on Eastwood rd. in Cicero. Loved watching him race at Oswego, Fulton, and other CNY tracks. A great driver whose life ended way too soon.

We crossed the border from Ontario to head to Oswego (and Lancaster among other tracks) more times than I can count over the years growing up, it was great watching these guys go. Cayuga and Delaware were my local tracks and they had their fair share of good supermod races too. Cheers.

My father and I would go to Oswego and watch Jim race. Later after the race go down in pit row and see him. My dad worked with him at Carrier. Great Memories.

One thing that strikes me, We all grew up watching him as the greatest driver at Oswego. But as I watch his kids in the background you forget he was a father and a husband. From what I have been told he was a great at those roles as he was a racer.

The model for every super modified. Love the kids playing in the background and sitting in the car, oblivious to the history being made.

My all-time favorite driver! He sounded like he was from New England!

Thank you for preserving History. I remember seeing the Radical Offset at the 1977 Motorama. Even to this day, it is awesome to see (written 3 days after the death of Maynard Troyer).

I never saw Jimmy race the supermodified, but going to the local dirt tracks, I watched Jimmy race the sprint car at Rolling Wheels and Weedsport. He was my favorite driver and looked forward to seeing him race when they came around. I grew up down the road and still live near where D&H Potato Farms was.

What are the chances I could get a copy of this video? I tried downloading but there is a lot of degradation.
