I remember Jim Shampine's Auto Parts store in Liverpool NY. And, my dad took us to see the Super Modifieds at Oswego a few times. Mean machines!!

I'll never forget all those Shampine & Swift battles in the 70's It was like Ford vs Chevy and with those two you always knew it was going to be one hell of a battle. I would never bet against either one of them. Swifty use to always say "The race is won in the garage!

If these cars had better coverage, and more people knew about this type of racing, and if they got to race on some "big league tracks"(absoutely no offence intended, i loved the old Star speedway, and of course,Oswego) this type of racing would blow nascar off the road.I still have Jim Shampine's autograph, that i got when i was a kid.His cars were oval track hot rods.Id like to build a street legal version of his rear engine car.In Alberta, you can make anything street legal!
