I was so close on giving up because the beginning of their story is kinda crazy but I'm SO GLAD I kept going. I finished their whole story and I am completely IN LOVE. If you're reading comments because, like me, you weren't sure if all these hours are worth your time-- I can assure you they are totally worth it! I'm rewatching after just finishing (and now I'm loving the beginning lol). Otalia is one of the best slow burns in sapphic media! The actresses have such an incredible chemistry and gave everything they could to make up for the non-physical stuff. Thank you for the hard work on compilating their story so more people (like me) could get to know and get to love Otalia!

My favorite part about Otalia is the fact that they are so comp het it hurts. It is clear that they both objectified Gus and used him as an excuse to continue interacting with one another even when it became unnecessary. They unwittingly became their worst with each other given their manipulations around Gus; mean-spirited fights; and all-around selfish battle of egos. But Natalia and Olivia always clearly gave a damn about each other and the important people in their lives. Olivia frankly helped Natalia financially and with seeing Rafe many, many times even before they started calling each other best friends. Natalia loved and cared about Emma as her own from the beginning.

You worded this so perfectly. The dynamic between Gus and Natalia didn't seem like soulmates. More like best friends. And Natalia was clinging to him so hard because she needed him for the reasons that you stated. I didn't see any love on Olivia's side either. Both of them just needed him for their own reasons.(Not saying they don't love him, definitely not in a romantic way)

I had a really hard time getting through the first hour of soap opera nonsense- like three days and multiple attempts hard. But I am so glad i stuck with it. The moment Natalia found out Ophelia was dying was a game changer. The paradox of her compassion and mistrust. She ain’t a fool but she’s caring. And Gus. This is sooo good!

thank you so much for posting these. now so many more people can be introduced to this storyline. i've only ever seen it from emma's presentation to the end, this is the first time i'm seeing these scenes. and honestly, otalia is my favorite wlw ship of all time *precisely because* of all the emotionality the writers and actors had to bring to the relationship to make it believable despite the kissing ban. like you said, lot of queer ships from this time were basically forced to be slow-burns but their bonds and journeys come across as that much stronger because of all they were able to communicate without being physical. nowadays, queer soap couples are getting married pretty regularly on-screen. even if they're still few and far between, it's wild to think how far the genre has come since 2007 (nuke, otalia, bam, etc.). those are just some of my thoughts, anyway.

Thanks for watching the video. I’ve watched this couple back in 2010 and haven’t watched it again til recently. I’ve seen enough lesbian couples on shows and in movies in the meantime, but like you said: it’s not the same. Yes, sure, the lack of physical intimacy get’s unbelievable in the end, but everything else the writers and couple poured into this story is amazing. And while making these videos and rewatching the footage over and over again, I still notice new subtle things the writers and actors put in there I actually forgot how good it was, until I rewatched it recently. And that’s why I’m making these video’s. Because though I’m grateful for the material that’s out there, especially in the beginning there’s a lot of material to get through that it’s necessarily interesting to the storyline. And difference in audio and screen size and lack of transitions between scenes annoyed me haha And I thought this story deserved better, so I’m trying my best with what I got to showcase this storyline in the best way possible

No, It’s from a soap opera with lots of different storylines besides this one. This is just the scenes, all scenes, that are in anyway relevant to their story. The 5 (in the end 6) parts are from daily episodes that aired between oct 2007 and sept 2009

@@FlyingWitch1 Thanks for letting me know! BTW, I saw that you had actually posted on LChat in the Venice/Otalia/CC/JL section about your Otalia uploads! I had never been to that site but somehow ended up there while looking for something about Venice. I started around page 128 and some of those comments were HILARIOUS! I dozens of pages because they were so funny or insightful (even more insightful into human nature and the intenet than to anything about the show itself). After a while, though, things ceased to be funny & I tired of the BULLYING of anyone who dared to disagree with ANYTHING the bullies on that board said. It's too bad b/c I don't mind funny insults directed toward CC or Destini, but when people comments are just, "CC is a [insert symbols that meant something in 2010, but that I've never seen before]," over and over and OVER again, it gets old. Snark is entertaining; hate, bullying, & repetitive comments that add nothing to the discussion are not. Call Desti, "The Purple Cow," and I'll laugh. Call CC "Fish Lips," b/c of her botched plastic surgery & botox and I'll laugh. Complain about CC using Giani as bait, Venice using JL as a sex object, the poor storytelling on Venice as evidenced by CC having to explain things in her tweets, CC's inability to recognize that what she is imagining in her head about Venice is NOT what is happening on screen, and I'm right there with you! But mock CC for how she looks after running a half marathon for charity? No. Call Dot Marie-Jones fugly and insult her because she's a big gal and looks somewhat butch? No. Yet, anyone who doesn't absolutely hate everything about CC was piled on mercilessly by the thugs on that board. It was so childish. ANYWAY, I was interested in knowing what happened between CC and Destini since Destini was such a sycophantic, over-the-top fangirl, saying, "Crystal Chappell is a goddess, ya'll!" multiple times in every Big Purple Podcast. Then I hear that Destini is trashing Venice on a new podcast, but even when people posted links, the links are all dead now, and I can no longer hear what she has to say. I find things like that really interesting. Of course if you put someone on a pedestal as if they shit gold pellets & sunshine, you are going to turn on them when they do something that disappoints you! So I'm really interested in what happened to turn Destini against CC & Venice!

Don’t watch it for the kissing, you’ll be disappointed. Watch it for their amazing chemistry and slowly going from enemies to friends to lovers. Don’t get me wrong: they do end up together and they are great at showing intimacy in every other way imaginable, but they were heavily censored so they had to be very creative. The storyline, acting, chemistry is miles better than other couples on tv, the actual physical side not so much. You could watch Venice the series, The grove the series (which is more like a movie) or their movie a million happy nows after this. They are a couple in that too and they aren’t censored in that, though otalia’s storyline is better imo. A million happy nows is an amazing movie, very sad though, it’s on youtube. The Grove is on youtube too. Venice the series season 1-2 is on youtube, everything else can be purchased on vimeo.
