I met the lead singer after they opened for Bon Iver in Berkeley. He was really nice, shook my hand, and thanked me for buying one of their shirts.... and he was completely stoned.

Saw Other Lives when they played Johnny Brenda’s in Philadelphia, PA a few years ago. Bought their “Tamer Animals” CD at their display table. Magnificent concert, magnificent CD, magnificent band. One of the best things to come out of Oklahoma!

More importantly than sounding good on their albums (and they most definitely do), Other Lives is absolutely killer live. If you have an opportunity to see them, do it, you definitely won't regret it.

I'm counting down the minutes to their London gig in 3 weeks. Haven't been this excited about seeing a new band on stage in a million years. Totally blown away by their studio material. Grandiose landscapes of cosmic melancholia à la Sparklehorse/Grandaddy/Radiohead filtered through the epic Far West of Morricone. And the Kubrickian/Floydian references of this exquisite video aren't but the cherry on the pie. Still, it's the pie that counts. And I can't wait for my first helping.

It's funny you said that because when my friend played this song the other day, the first sentence that came out of my mouth was "I don't why but this song makes me feel like i'm in a spaceship travelling through space, and this is probably the song I would listen to in zero gravity, and on repeat!" He just looked at me and smiled. Then he asked me to go check the video out on KZbin. Needless to say I was shocked when I saw the video. It really does have a spacey feel to it.
