Reminds me of Unknown 9 which i seem to be the only person who liked that game as it reminded me of a PS3 game interms of design and jank.

By the way you describe this game, it reminds me a lot of Metroid Prime: Power-up gained from enemy, a kind of "corruption" that transform the protagonist (quite literally "Metroid Prime 3: Corruption"), more upgrade in hidden passageway... Probably the "missing part" is exploration, but that doesn't make it a bad game in any way... If it will come out on Switch, i'd gladly give it a try. Thank you
