Dance talent show where dancers of any age and dance style compete to win £50,000 and a chance to perform on Strictly Come Dancing.
Leading the charge to discover the greatest dancer are three superstar dance captains - platinum-selling singer Cheryl, Broadway and Glee star Matthew Morrison and Strictly Come Dancing professional Oti Mabuse.
The series is hosted by singer and presenter Alesha Dixon and Jordan Banjo, member of multi-award-winning dance troupe Diversity.
The audience hold the power - if they are impressed by the audition, they can vote to open the mirror, and if 75 per cent of the audience vote yes then the mirror will open and the dancer will make it through to the next stage of the competition, the callbacks. Get ready to see talent from across the world of dance, from ballet to jazz, street to ballroom, contemporary to disco as the dancers give the performances of their lives in the hope of opening the mirror.

@Alexandre Reis Rude much. I'd like to see you do ballet routine that's difficult technique wise and not get the proper appreciation. Ballet takes years to even be half as good as he was. I may not be a dancer but I do know how it feels to show your talent and not get the right appreciation. I've been there. I played a Bach Sonata on flute for a talent show in college. I was the only classical musician who preformed and I got passed up by a woman who read a poem off her phone all because the judges couldn't appreciate my talent properly. I've been playing flute since I was in 6th grade. I'm 24 now. The blow to my self esteem was indescribable. So if I'm a little annoyed that a bunch of naive dingdongs can't appreciate someone who gives their all to a ballet routine and executes it beautifully then so bit it. And I'm proud to see other people with taste get annoyed with people who don't have a clue as to what they're doing or in this case judging. Not to mention that some people in audience were rude as hell. Let people be annoyed. It's for a good reason.

Jill Seufert your a classically trained idiot you can’t say how stupid an audience is just because of on little performance they had the power to open the doors and %2 of them didn’t like it ballet is slow and boring sometimes just cause one person didn’t get though on performance doesn’t Predicted the audience you can’t go around with a hate speech for the audience cause if you were up there and the Audience knew you were calling the stupid you would never make it through and that goes for all the people who said you took the words out of your mouth to the ones o said I agree your just being a little stupid getting mad over a performance the only one who should be upset is the judges and the performer not you just cause of a %2 miss you can’t go around saying you are idiots cause this person got in and the ballet performer did not you can report me but I don’t give a crap your just mad that someone could actually be better than the ballet performer ! Right?

You don’t judge them by the same criteria - but that’s natural not merely cos of the “aww” factor or whatever, but because they are KIDS. It’s daft to compare what a child can do to what an adult can because simply, the adult has more years of experience doing the skill and the child has more energy to do it right but not necessarily the experience or strength yet. For that reason it’s better to judge both on their own merits. The kids for being insanely talented at Ballroom for being so young, and the ballet dancer for being unbelievably skilled (I got angry and switched off the programme after it didn’t happen for the guy in fact - they deserved to go through over some others (the street dancers weren’t in sync with each other enough to be impressive, and the guy who was there to fanboy over Cheryl just wouldn’t have made it if he was judged on his dance at all)

They're not judges - they're Dance Captains. After 4 weeks of pre-recorded audition shows the Captains will mentor those who reach the final live shows. At the moment they have no real purpose apart from jumping up and down and looking amazed and taking up way too much camera time. But it's a Simon Cowell show, remember? It's more about the celebs than the contestants. Whoever wins this thing will soon be forgotten but the celebs? Well, they will go on and on and on.....
