Watch the BBC first on iPlayer 👉 bbc.in/iPlayer... Inspirational dancer Andrew freestyles to Can't Stop The Feeling by Justin Timberlake. Twenty-one-year-old Andrew was born with Down's Syndrome. A self-proclaimed 'captain of dance', Andrew loves contemporary, ballet and ballroom.
Dance talent show where dancers of any age and dance style compete to win £50,000 and a chance to perform on Strictly Come Dancing.
Leading the charge to discover the greatest dancer are three superstar dance captains - platinum-selling singer Cheryl, Broadway and Glee star Matthew Morrison and Strictly Come Dancing professional Oti Mabuse.
The series is hosted by singer and presenter Alesha Dixon and Jordan Banjo, member of multi-award-winning dance troupe Diversity.
The audience hold the power - if they are impressed by the audition, they can vote to open the mirror, and if 75 per cent of the audience vote yes then the mirror will open and the dancer will make it through to the next stage of the competition, the callbacks. Get ready to see talent from across the world of dance, from ballet to jazz, street to ballroom, contemporary to disco as the dancers give the performances of their lives in the hope of opening the mirror.

@Mike Jones People with trisomy-21 aren't capable to what "normal" people are. Their brain doesn't function the way "normal" people's brains work. You literally can read all about what trisomy-21 does to the brain. So praising someone for their joy and passion, it's ok to do that. It's not patronizing. You're living in their joy, which in turn makes you feel joyful as well.

Are used to work in adult daycare for 20 years. We have quite a few people with down syndrome who can do extraordinary acts. Most of the people do not want to acknowledge that these people exist. For the people who are ignorant in the world do not want to emerge themselves into reality. These people would not want to see “ struggle “ it on the stage. Good in this sense transcends dance complexity. This isnt just about dancing, codings not just about 0s and 1s, talking isnt just about intelligence. Ya see humans are interesting creatures, we have a prefrontal cortex that orders priorities, and for the average person we do not only care about 1 thing, we care about many. And truly i tell you there is something to be gained for everyone by putting love as the top priority. That is whats really "good"

Did he win? This video didn’t even say whether he made it any further in the competition. Not that he wasn’t already a winner in people’s hearts after this performance ... I am in awe of his courage because at 50, I’m still terrified of talking in front of a group, etc. And it was truly heartwarming to see how much he loves dancing, and how the audience responded to his exuberance and joy!

Rubee - you need to remember that dancing doesn’t come natural or easy to someone like him. That’s why it’s so amazing that he was as good as he was. Just because he isn’t as ‘flexible’ as the other contestants doesn’t mean he isn’t as good. He’s amazing in his own way, he’s in a league of his own.

My little brother has Down syndrome and seeing this just burst me into tears. I am so happy for him and his family because I know how hard it is getting through day to day activities. Big congratulations and don’t let anyone stop him, it happens to much to vulnerable people. Anyone who dislikes this video has no heart but whatever it’s their choice. and if they want to live a mean life looking down on vulnerable kids that’s their problem. Also, notice how I haven’t used the word ‘disabled’ or ‘special needs’. We shouldn’t put a label on anyone. We all have our problems and it just so happens that theirs can be diagnosed and seen physically. I’m sorry for ranting but I just want people to understand that it’s hard for me to keep all my feelings in sometimes. Please spread the love and care and thanks for reading Xxx

I do not usually watch these things. And when I do, I very seldom comment. That said.... It is exceptionally special when a "special needs" or "disabled" contestant comes to the front to reach for the stars. Whether it is the "Lost Voice Guy" or an amputee dancer or, as in this case, the "Extra Chromosome Kid", they are ALL inspiring. Especially when we recall that it wasn't that long ago when we simply locked these people away behind bleak walls as if they were animals. Win or lose, I say Well done young man. Well done indeed.

I am now in tears. After having watched this video, I was reminded of my sweet Down Syndrome son, Bryce. It has been almost 7 years since his passing, at the age of 22. He was very loving and my wife and I miss him dearly. He was not able to talk, walk on his own, or interact with others very much. But, we enjoyed him immensely and considered it a privilege to have had him in our home. My heart goes out to the mother and rest of the family for loving and caring for him. My wife and I hope to see our angel again on the other side soon.
