You've maybe read about the new Oticon's More 1 hearing aids & the talk of "Brain Hearing" & the use of Deep Neural Networks but what you're really wanting to know is "will that help me hear better"? Matthew Pearson from zone1hearing in London discusses real-life experiences with this new technology.
Initial impressions are very promising & we have had an incredible amount of interest & will be fitting a lot of the More 1 rechargeables from Monday 18th January onwards, so watch this space!
Regarding tinnitus, our experience is that around 60% of our patients that have tried hearing aids report while wearing the aids the tinnitus is either gone or reduced to a tolerable level.
For around another 20% patients report that adding an environmental therapy sound in addition to the amplification reduces the annoyance of tinnitus sufficiently.
There are some patients that although may now receive the benefit of improved hearing do not find an improvement in tinnitus symptoms by using an aid it is recommended that if patients find tinnitus distressing they seek a medical referral.

Matthew, Great Video! This info might be helpful to anyone who is a musician ♫ and has the Oticon More 1 hearing aids. My Audiologist made these adjustments today and the problem I was having with sustained notes played on a piano oscillating or fluttering seems to have been eliminated. These are the settings that worked for me in the event you want to share this with your Subscribers. "Increase MPO by 3 steps, moved feedback manager to “low,” and adjusted compression ratios as close as possible to 1.0." We hope this helps someone else as much as it helped my music ♫ listening experience.

I have had my More 1 hearing aid for a week now and this is my first hearing aid ever. Being that my hearing loss only starts at around 2K my main goal was to get Hearing Aids to listen to music. I am amazed by what I hear. I have been fitted with Bass domes and the sound is filled with air and breathing. I can clearly hear the rich bass of my very high fidelity system and at the same time toggling the More 1 through the application only demonstrates how great they are.

The idea of a hearing aid is (as much as is possible with an artificial device) bring the hearing back to the normal level, 0 decibels. Speech tests before & after fittings are advisable to help quantify any improvement. Remote mics are a requirement for some patients to get the best possible result.

As a former band director myself, I hope the Oticon More will be better than my Oticon Opn S. My Oticons are about as useful for hearing and performing music as sticking sharp sticks in my ears! They turn every musical experience into a painful experience. I am not new to hearing aids and have previously worn everything from top line Phonaks to Costco. None of them are really good for music, but the Oticons are the worst of all. There is no possibility of wearing them while listening to music. Even worse is trying to perform while wearing them.

Thanks for the video. The More was recommended to my 91-year-old Mom. The audiologist did not cover what level 1-2-3 would be best for her - but simply showed her the price difference. While she has an active lifestyle for 91 it is what I would call a quiet one. For her, would there be a real difference in her hearing experience between the different levels.? Or best to save some money and just buy the basic level? Thanks!

Full disclosure I have only ever fitted the 1. She could always try the 3 & she would still have the option to upgrade. Oticon say you should fit the highest level unless that isn’t within your budget, as you go down the ranges you will have, less clarity, less channels to adjust & less noise reduction. It will also depend what she is using now or not as the case may be.

Hello Matthew AKA zone1hearing, thank you for a great review and explanation of the Oticon "More". I am curious about the battery life as it relates to streaming. is there a calculation available which would allow the user to determine the battery life based on the time spent streaming? I like the idea of streaming, but not at the risk of my device's dying when I need them. My Oticon miniRITER's Opn S are compatible with iPhone and iPad. I have an Android phone. My take would always be get the best aid you can afford, without breaking your budget! It's the law of diminishing returns. Also even if you get the best aid in the world (always debatable what that is) there will always be a better one somewhere down the line, so don't over think it get stuck in & build a strong relationship.with your audiologist & maximize your investment by utilizing the service you are entitled to in your plan. If your audiologist fits using best practices & you have access to them should you need in person or remote adjustments, then the combination of an accurate test, real ear measurements & maybe the use of a tinnitus masker will hopefully put the "T" in the background. If you don't try the 3 you will never know. You can always upgrade as long as you do it in a timely fashion. Let me know how it goes!

You sound almost exactly like me - 52, enough hearing loss that some conversations are hard to catch and at least 10 years of 24x7 tinnitus (for me it's a constant "shiny" sound). It was debating 2 vs. 1 and when I searched "oticon more 1 vs. 2" I found an article on wizerlist that did a great job laying out the differences. I decided that over the 3-5 year life-span of these things, the extra capability was worth it for the extra capability. As it turned out, I checked with my insurance and they covered 90% after I met my overall medical deductible, which I was already pretty close to. I was already choosing the 1 when it was entirely out of pocket - hope you find your insurance covers some of it too. As far as tinnitus, my audiologist suggested that standard setup might help significantly and that I should get used to the hearing aids before I tried the tinnitus-specific capabilities. Mine arrive sometime in the next few days...

We haven't fitted anyone with some More aids with that type of loss yet. There is a 105dB receiver that will allow fitting right into the profound loss area. Things like your QuickSin score come into play. If your score is 15dB or higher you may need an FM System (high end mic) so with just an indication of your audiogram it is hard to say.

Each clinic will set their own price but from my experience if they can buy stock of aids in bulk at the time of launch their are often discounts off the normal price. I have worn Oticon Opn 1 hearing aids for almost 4 years. I am a musician experiencing the same thing that you have described. The effect while playing my trumpet is what I have called a "wobble" sound which is much like the sound of playing out of tune with another player or in the case of a piano having 2 strings on the same note not perfectly matching pitch. This has been very annoying, and my audiologist spent months trying to develop a program that would work for me. She has come fairly close but has not been able to eliminate the frequency disturbance. She called Oticon several times without any resolution. I would actually take my trumpet to my appointments with her as she attempted to develop a solution. The problem does NOT occur while streaming any kind of music. It is a result of the 3 difference microphones taking the external sound and producing slightly different frequencies when processing the sound to the speakers. The frequencies do not line up perfectly and produce the "flutter" or "wobble" sound disturbance. It would seem that an Oticon programer could create a program to correct this problem (line up the frequencies). The hearing aids are excellent but hinder my ability to play my trumpet in a group environment. This is the first time that I have ever encountered another person who has described this music-related experience. I wish that it could be corrected for us musicians who still wish to perform! My audiologist performed the following settings as a starting point: Feedback manager off; High frequencies greatly reduced (4,000-8,000); Noise reduction turned off; I have custom fit molds.

Does the Oticon More hearing aid work for someone with Sudden Sensorineural Hearing Loss (Asymetrical)? Thank you.

It should do. It is important to see if there is an underlying cause to that type of loss. A demonstration is a great place to start. We have fitted to others who have approached us with this type of loss after seeing our content & had a good result so worth a try Lou. Thanks for your question.

@@zone1hearing Thanks, there is a one-on-one demonstration for the Oticon More at a nearby hearing aid specialist.

I do not know if the product sold in London is the same as the one sold in the USA. If it is, this video is a scam. I have had my More 3 hearing aids for three weeks, and am returning them tomorrow. There is nothing positive about them. The price is ridiculous. The sound quality is poor. The receivers and caps are enormous, and painful to wear. The charge is not long lasting, though I did not stream theough the aids. Do NOT purchase these garbage hearing aids.

So let me see if I have got this right you purchased different hearing aids from a different provider in a different country for more than we would charge, therefore my video is a scam?
