I have a similar story... In October last year I got sick with the flu. I woke up one morning with a bell like ringing in my right ear. Like church bells going off in the far distance. I have had this before when I got the flu or a cold and it always went away after a day, not this time. My ears felt blocked and I kept the faint bell like ringing in my right ear. I thought it would go away after I recovered, but it never has. I only got louder. So so loud. After about 6 months I decided to go to the doctor. My ears were fine, no wax, no inflammation, but a little fluid behind my eardrums. I got some nasalspray (non addictive) and if it hadn't improved after two weeks I needed to come in again. They also told me to pop my ears (pinch nose and blow out of nose). Two weeks later I was back. Checked again and everything was the same as before. They checked my head and ears with a sound fork and all was fine. They advised me to rinse my sinusses with a neti pot and after that the nasal spray and keep popping my ears to open up the eustacian tube. Again for two weeks. Still nothing. One thing changed though. My bell like ringingen gradually changed to a steady beeeeeeep. I can only hear it when it is quit. Night time is hell. I use an app to play rain sounds and that really helps, but it is so frustrating. My ear is still clogged. I feel like I have a bunch of cottonballs in my ear, but my hearings seems fine. I got a cold at the very beginning of september and now my left ear feels clogged and on the night of 10 to 11 september I had a high pitched ringing in my left ear. That is gone now luckily. But my stess levels were of the chart when I heard that ringing. I sometimes have a sharp pain in both ears and feel my heartbeat in my right ear. Very frustrating! 21st of september I have to go to a hearing doctor and really hope they can help!!

My situation is identical to your. Even the year I got Tinnitus which was 2017 as well. One morning I woke up with a cold and a blocked left ear. I had no pain and I thought nothing of it. Two weeks go by and my ear is still blocked. I start to panic and schedule an appointment with ENT that was a week away. By the time my appointment came around, the blocked ear was more or less resolved but I had a buzz in that ear. I told the ENT and he prescribed steroids but by that time it was too late. I've had tinnitus in that ear since. I suspect it was virus that attacked the inner ear and caused some damage. My hearing in that ear is 5-10% worse now but nothing that causes issues in terms of hearing.

Hey, how're ya? I just wanted to share. I had covid some time back and I had what u mentioned, at first it was blocked already for me, then a pop sound, and then a ringing sound. I was worried and thought perhaps it's a covid thing. After 5 days, I went to see a Ear Nose Throat specialist. He didn't say much about my ringing, but he cleansed both sides of my ear with expert tools for $100 per year. It was still ringing then despite the deep cleanse, although the deep cleanse was really good and I could hear much clearer and louder after that. After cleansing my ears he told me if I was very stressed lately, and the answer was yes. He and the audiologist said that stress is a factor that can cause it, though they didn't exactly explain the science. He told me not to focus on it and distract myself. He said the more u focus on it, the more its there. And he told me to get loads of sleep (8 hours a day) and destress a lot by not thinking about work at all. (for me how I destress was exactly opposite, I opened my laptop to clear my emails totally so I could rest with a piece of mind) . So for a few days (1 week) I trained my mind to do other things and ignore it, and it kinda worked. I think there's always a small sound within the ears as normal state. Just don't focus on it, focus on something else, and manage your stress and sleep by having ample quantity of them. Hope it will work for you.

I’ve had it for a month now. Also a Norwegian. I’m a musician and producer and played drums every day in my youth without hearing protection. And also rehearsals without protection. My hearing test shows moderate hearing loss in the 6khz range in my left ear (hi-hat side) and low in the same range in my right ear. It started with dizziness and then the anxiety made it appear. Luckily my bass player is a audiograf (dunno what it’s called in english) and told me about habituation. So I’ve found out that my tinnitus is primarily somatic, caused by strained neck and back muscles. I know because it gets higher when I move my neck or hold my head down. After habituation the ringing is gone (thank god) but the hizzing is still there. Albeit at a low volume. Also got hyperacusis. But that’s not constant anymore. Anyway, it doesn’t bother me too much anymore. It’s improved like 70% in a month. I use crickets for habituation. The trick is to keep the volume of the masking sound just below the tinnitus. That way, the brain learns to kinda filter it away. It really works. Also, breathing exercises to lower your pulse and anxiety, because the vicious circle of anxiety makes it worse. So gotta break that first.

Do you still hear it?
@MrKennyBones4 ай бұрын
@@7rhythm Yes, it’s still there. The buzzing. The only thing that helps is massages and exercise. And lack of sleep makes it A LOT worse. And it gets worse when the muscles are sore after a heavy deep tissue massage, or after a heavy workout. It’s still manageable though, but I’m determined to fix it permanently. But I realize now it’s probably gonna be a long while before it’s gone. I don’t have any anxiety or negative emotions towards it anymore tho. It’s just annoying when I notice it.

The tinnitus we get after flu or cold are usually due to eustachian tube dysfunction as the opening of the tube becomes inflamed As time pass if eustachian tube doesn't open even after cold subsides the negative pressure in middle ear can cause eardrum to get retracted over time and this cause hyperacusis for some reason

Still got pressure and fullness in my right ear thought I was starting to get better then I developed a ringing in the ear form of tinnitus in my ear a few days ago. Trying to cope with this now. Funny thing is I don’t hear the ringing in my ears unless I’m around certain sounds like fans or an air conditioner. Or at the moment the coffee maker. lol. Funny but not funny at the same time. @@tsheringdekar7981 and I love how these doctors rely on those stupid pressure tests They’re saying I have normal ear pressure If that is true than how come both eardrums are retracted. No answer…. Just Flonase. It’s really not right because in the time they’re fucking around people get worked up and overly anxious and I truly believe a lot of people develop tinnitus because of the high anxiety. If you have ETD then you are experiencing a conductive hearing loss. Which in time will get better , but because of the hearing loss your brain fills in that empty spot with sound. Add in the anxiety and boom ..TINNITUS ! In most cases I think it could be avoidable if doctors did more to help earlier and inform their patients better

I was on some meds for awhile that greatly improved it, then after a year, the meds stopped working and increasing the dose didn't make any difference. this happened to me at 73. virus so severe absent fever but congestion displaced my right ear drum. It sounded like a construction site in my head. Three medications resolved the issue and prednisone brought the inflammation down to level where my ear drum self adjusted.ENT said he could manually adjust if it did not do so naturally. Problem is I was left with some form of pulsatile tinnitus which is a almost constant buzzing through my body especially noticeable sitting Of course these morons are clueless and i have thoroughly investigated any other possible causes This year i developed vertigo in the other ear and spent 3 days in hospital 11 weeks and still not entirely resolved. All I can say is i have had all scans and tests but not really a full immune panel and I have had to conclude this is due to ageing. Funny how i never heard my parents or anyone having these difficulties and the ever increasing list of auto immune diseases is a source of anxiety. Never heard of any of them either. I have none of those either as I am medically sophisticated enough to establish through symptom checks if it was a possibility. One neuro suggested a hematologist oncologist. I had a fit no symptoms for any and I told her straight out i would have been dead by now if leudemia, myelomas or lymphomas were present. i give up with these people
