Otis Newer Series 2 HydroFit Hydraulic Elevator at The Land, Epcot, Lake Buena Vista, FL

Are you from Chicago? I’m not, but I have relatives from my dad’s side of the family who live in the suburbs of that city. There, they have a mall called Westfield Old Orchard, where they had a Bloomingdale’s store which had three stories, and escalators between the second and third floors that were laid out in an identical angle to those found in the Land pavilion at EPCOT. In 2022, after 28 years of operation at the mall, the store was converted to a mini location at another part of a shopping center called “Bloomie’s”, and that store just has the floor you enter on and a basement below. I found out about the alternate store plans from my grandma when I visited my relatives in Chicago once for Independence Day, and I became pretty bummed out when I heard the news about the former Bloomingdale’s store, because I had also remembered that their elevator was also at an identical angle in relation to the escalators to the one that was always around in the Land since the pavilion opened in 1982. Ironically enough, The Land opened before the former Bloomingdale’s location I’m describing did in 1994, however it wasn’t until 2002 that the path of the Land escalators became just like that of Bloomingdale’s, because in the first 20 years of the Land pavilion the escalators used to run the other direction. The newer elevator in the Land pavilion is not positioned the same way as the one in the Old Orchard Bloomingdale’s was in comparison with the escalators.

I looked on the website, and being a standard Otis hydro, this is not a HydroFit. HydroFit is always an MRL hydraulic model, a hydraulic elevator with the machine room is just your normal, standard model.

HydroFit is actually the only hydraulic model Otis currently makes. They are mostly advertised as MRL, but they do come in MR versions too. This is largely because machine rooms are required in a few places (CA, WA, NYC, and MA). Look at the asterisk next to where it says "Machine Room: Not Required", then at the exceptions listed just beneath the promotional video. www.otis.com/site/us/pages/HydroFitProductPage.aspx

JimLiElevators WestCoast Elevators is ACTUALLY correct as am I. Otis Hydrofit is currently Otis' only hydraulic elevator model and can be both MRL and non MRL

I'm glad this wasn't MRL. The two Coca-Cola elevators at Disney Springs had to be converted from MRL hydro to MRL traction because of repeated issues. Also IDK why they tried TKE lol. Should have just sticked with Otis. Out of curiosity, how do you know if the Otis HydroFit is MRL or not, because I don't see the side panels like on the Endura MRL from ThyssenKrupp unless Otis' method is different.

Very nice! Did you see the machine room? If so I would have sent it up and seen if you could hear it. Some HydroFits have good motors! Very nice elevator. I know some people aren't a fan of the new Series 2 and 4 design, but I personally like it. Interesting they put a Janus phone in a cabinet instead of the normal Otis phone built in to the panel.

WestCoast Elevators I didn't find the machine room. And yes, the motor was very nice and the phone sure was interesting!!! I like this new design as well, probably one of the only modern elevators that are still at least decent quality.
