Otis and Maeve do exactly the same thing for each other, only she's not superficial. After Ruby and Otis split, she went back to having her clique talk and act for her. Unfortunate that she was written that way, given the growth she developed with Otis. Maeve challenged Otis too, Ruby wanted to change Otis to be more like her. Otis accepts Maeve for who she is and gives her agency. He does that with Ruby, too, but I think that's just who Otis is. He gives everyone agency. Maeve also gave Otis the opportunity to find what appears to be his passion in helping people. I think she's given him more than Ruby did.

People forget Ruby, took Otis's virginity. She clearly liked him from the season 2 party onwards, The smirk when he said Maeves "scary but pretending" The dancing together, the forest scenes, the cycle ride, the fraught look on her face every time Otis said he'll end it. The shows of public affection. She loved him far more than Maeve did. I'm still shocked he's still hung up on Maeve. I'm hoping it's just an infatuation but he will realise he has a much better connection with Ruby.. Have one of those romcom flash backs to all the good times! The writers probably did too good a job selling this relationship as it looks far better and natural than Otis x Maeve. The cutting to Duran Duran - Save a Prayer when they became boyfriend/girlfriend "chefs kiss"

The only flaw in Otis and Maeve’s relationship is humanizing Ruby’s character. She is the epitome of what the main character in every love story is. Maeve and Otis were always in the “will they, won’t they” situation, but they do love each other. It’s just Otis’ character grew so much through the series, in someways he outgrew Maeve. This version of Otis would have stayed with Ruby in real life, because they compliment each other. While Maeve and Otis are a lot alike as the season progressed, and as with every relationship that’s a recipe for disaster. But who knows maybe the writers will hit the right spot, and convince us that Maeve and Otis’ relationship isn’t just for the sake of plausibility. This is high school for christ’s sake maybe making the storyline more in synch with reality is the best way to go.

I love how when u notice that Otis never gave in to Ruby like in the bathroom scene they argue silently and he goes away despite what she wants and when she tells him he's wearing homeless clothes he says he isn't changing for her and they can split up. I literally started watching this show just because of these two , I kept seeing videos like this on instgram and I decided, hey why not ! I haven't had a show to watch in a while , I didn't even know otis was the main character at the time, and even though they set it up to make you care about him and Mave. I actually really liked ruby and otis relationship in S-3. Aside from thr aspects of it being the hot girl gets with the nerdy guy which i liked,You actually see character growth for both of them, otis steps out of his comfort zone, but also becomes more confident and says what he means, and ruby ends up changing her character for OT, because she likes him, She goes from being a posh , full of herself person to someone who actually cares about other people and also opens up to him and showing her family life and all that. And so I think the show does a good job at showing that. Over all , I think they handled the relationship really well , it was very believable, wah more then the one with Ola. I Just wish they made the relationship last a little bit longer

Yeah.. after that Paris trip the whole season went down for me, the whole OtisxMaeve story is a bit annoying to this point, and why half of the season writers would build audience to get used to idea of Ruby and Otis & Isaak and Maeve, to later in ten minutes plot twist bring Otis and Maeve back together o.O I liked OtisxMaeve idea in season 2, but here I am just confused, like...why create a great chemistry between new couples to then throw all of us back into old loop -.-

Once Ruby physically fought the principal to help Otis I truly accepted them as my ship. Maeve has never done anything like that for Otis in fact Otis is normally always the one helping Maeve. Rubtis ship all the way
