Not always. My first Gen2 was actually the MR variant.

OPM1961 Well I did my research and was told in the past that Gen2 is Otis' MRL Model.

Every MRL model comes in both configurations of MR or MRL, even Gen2. One of the reasons why is because California does not allow MRL installations, or if MRL may be hazardous.
