I think minutes was correct Otis. 60 minutes x 24 hours x 365 days x 37 years = 19,447,200. 19.8 million hours would be 2260 years. I hope your holiday is fantastic.

Happy Holidays to you & Amy. 37 years worth of viewing ~an that's an amazing number. Thank you for all the terrific stories and personal chats over the past couple of Covid years. It's a nice place to come, listen and read the respectful (and often thoughtful) comments. I wonder what an Otis-Fest weekend would be like? Couple hundred (couple thousand?) Otis friendly, like minded people gathered for a weekend of Americana music, BBQ, art - perhaps a "wobbly pop" or two. Now that would be worth a road trip ! To everyone reading - wishing you a happy & safe holiday time! Cheers

When you talk about big-name musical acts playing in small towns, Indiana Beach amusement park in Monticello, IN was a destination for the biggest acts in rock and roll during the 1960’s and early 1970’s. Everyone played there.including The Beach Boys, The Who, The Byrds, Janice Joplin, the Yardbirds and many, many more. It was a stop for many of the big names traveling from Chicago to Indianapolis (or vice versa) while on tour. You’re a little too young to remember, but I grew up in the 1960’s just north of Logansport and remember it very well. Your videos are always a respite from the daily grind, Otis. I enjoy them immensely. Enjoy the day.

Otis, things settled down this Christmas night and watched all of your recent Waylon videos. I have Waylon music playing, and playing loud. I’m a huge Waylon fan, always have been. I probably have one of the largest collection of his memorabilia than anyone. My office is decked out in Waylon poster, in highly decorative frames, guitars, Road Inc., stage cases, and some were his. Folks come to my office and are wow’d. I had seen Waylon in concert countless times, and never disappointed. His live shows, and those recorded in the 70s are even today pure raw music that can’t be duplicated. Thank you for your videos, very enjoyable! Bob

I'm sure I played a gig or two in Greencastle when I lived in Indiana. I'm with you on old houses (as I sit in my office/studio in our 1921 two-story). Saint Paul's got a nice, small-town feel to it, even though the population sign says 285K. My wife tested positive today, I'm negative (so far). All our Christmas plans are off. It's nice and quiet. Yes, I spent a quiet but warm Christmas at home. I just wanted to thank you for giving us what we need, something positive on social media. And it's true, being a good moderator takes being a good listener. You let your guests speak their minds and memories, which is what we're here for. So, thank you for what you do and for being respectful toward the people who share their time and stories with us. Like so many others I especially like those Waylon stories. Long time fan of your music & just happened upon your channel. I'm hooked & have watched a couple dozen clips just this weekend. Our paths crossed a few times in the mid-90's when I worked the back room at Sports Live on Meridian Street. Moved back to Putnam County where I work for a local police department & my wife is employed at Depauw. I loved hearing stories of the artists who have played here over the years & of the speakers that have been a part of the Tim & Sharon Ubben lecture series. So many great memories... Thank you so much for the music & stories that you share.

As a mediator, or an interviewer, bingo: the stories come out when you let people talk, and you listen. Oftentimes people carry around stories and wisdom they arenʻt even aware are there, and itʻs not until they start talking, with someone actively listening, that they access the inner wisdom in a way they couldnʻt before they tapped into that. The best thing you as an active listener can do, whether as a mediator or interviewer or friend, is to listen to the story, get it all, and when they come to a stopping point (most people usually do arrive at a stopping point) then sum it up for them and ask if they have anything else to say. The moment of hearing-back what theyʻve expressed is a necessary part in the story. Maybe they said something they didnʻt mean to say (told a truth that was true but they donʻt want to be seen that way) and then they backtrack (and tell you YOU were wrong in the repeating!!); more often, though, the pause and the re-listening reminds them of something else to say. Then the listener keeps repeating the process. We have not been taught this by our growing up, our culture, our parenting, our schooling. What weʻve been taught is to barely tolerate the other person finishing their sentence, and then we jump in with OUR truth, or correct them, or cut them off, or tell them OUR story that was better than theirs. We miss so much that way, and it creates unnecessary conflicts.

There are lots of reasons to be down, but I find that if I focus on the actual moment I'm in that the moment is usually pretty good. Imagining all the bad stuff that "could" happen in the future - to us, to the world - is a horrible abuse of the imagination. We are each of us gifted with these amazing imaginations and to use it to imagine bad things is just so wrong. Many years ago I saw a real estate ad in the NY Times for a plantation estate in Hawaii and in my imagination I bought it. Every time I start to fall into thinking about what could go wrong I choose instead to go to my place in Kuai. In the past 10+ years I've added a guest house and a small recording studio. You're all welcome to drop by. Happy holidays.
