The label shouldve given us this version. It was more R&B sounding. Had more flavor. The version we got was an NSync "Digital Get Down" rip off.

Oh gosh... this was soooo 00’s 😂 The final version doesn’t sound that dated. Actually the R&B sound they took plus not having songs by Max Martin, like everyone had, made this album sound different, and it still sounds current today. Cool they scrapped the trends for a different sound.

Thats why its so good. Finished version was too pop, NSYNC sounding. OTown shouldve been marketed as the "Bad Boys" of the boy band era. Their sound shouldve been THIS. Very R&B, Jodeci, BBD, New Edition, Color Me Badd, type. But i know the people who controlled everything wanted them to appeal to a certain demographic, and skin tone. Also, because they had two men of color in the group, it couldve worked. But the people in charge knew what look and sound was going to make the young girls want to freak out over... Ashley Parker Angel. Had they put Erik and Trevor in the front, OTown wouldve been a different type of group and drawn a different type of audience and skin color. They wanted OTown to be on TRL, not 106 & Park. They wanted them to do the VMAs, not the BET Awards. They wanted Grammys in the pop categories, not the R&B catagories.
