Ottawa homicide: Youngest victim of “senseless” killings less than 3 months old, police say | FULL

The six people - including four children and two adults - found dead inside a home in suburban Ottawa from a “mass killing” were new to Canada from Sri Lanka, police said on Thursday. The youngest victim was just two-and-a-half months old, according to authorities.
Ottawa Police Chief Eric Stubbs said the father of the family survived and was taken to hospital to be treated for serious but non-life threatening injuries, and added that a "knife-like object" was used in the attack.
Stubbs also said that a 19-year-old suspect has been charged with six counts of first-degree murder and one count of attempted murder. Suspect Febrio De-Zoysa was a Sri Lankan national and was in Canada as a student, according to Stubbs.
“This was a senseless act of violence perpetrated on purely innocent people,” Stubbs said. "I know our whole community is shocked and mourning this event.”

I could easily imagine a scenario in which the father thought the attacker's murderous grudge was only with him (and maybe the other man in the house) and after the father was attacked (slashed/ stabbed with the weapon) and was just barely able to make it out of the house with his life, he wrongly assumed that the attacker wouldn't be so deranged as to then attempt to kill his wife and kids (and maybe he couldn't even hear their cries for help over his own when he was outside?). Or, maybe the attacker killed the weakest victims first - starting with the youngest kids (and attacked them in their sleep, as others have speculated) and only after that did he go into the father's/ mother's bedroom and attack/ kill the wife (after some struggle). Maybe it was only after that struggle that the father finally made it out of the house as the last one alive at that point?

I literally inhaled in a audible gasp, when I heard this news. It’s so shocking, so unbelievable, so evil, than even hours after first hearing about it, it seems my mind still doesn’t want to accept that it can be true - and yet, it is. My heart breaks for the recovering husband and father and I offer sympathy, empathy and my deepest concern for all this family’s extended relatives and friends. That was obviously not a vetted fact but I took it for one. I started my comment prior to getting to the end to of this police update, where I heard the officer say that the suspect also lived there. Am saying this as a landed immigrant in this country, although for more than 2 decades now: we, the newcomers make a ‘mess’ of this country. We bring in our stupid, indisciplined and sometimes barbaric ways from where we came from and this is why Toronto GTA has become a shitpot in the last decade since Trudeau opened its doors enmasse to everyone who wants to flee their countries. Canada needs to do better screening of who can come in, or were all going down.

This is insane. As a father you do anything and I mean absolutely anything to save your family! How did the accused manage to slay 6 people and the father was found outside? I would be in the house fighting for my family's life! My heart goes out to the children especially and the family that was lost. Better screening for new Canadians has to be done. Yeah bro I was looking and scrolling down these comments to see if anybody had the same thought pattern I had about how about him not putting his body In Harm's Way to try to save as many of his family members. This is one of the most gruesome examples and testament on why women are Ultra choosy when it comes to who they allow between their legs. Very selective who they choose as a protector. The worst agonizing part of this man life has yet to start. The real lifelong psychological torture will be him having to come to grips his family no longer exists, the nature on why they no longer exist, and then subject himself to a lifelong personal trial on why he did not do anything to put down the threat on his own . He will continue questioning himself on why he did not do anything. Questioning himself on if he could have at least say two of his children. He will start to to have fantasy dreams of him saving his whole entire family. Also the variation of Dreams that have him almost saving them but coming up short. Dreams of his family becoming reanimated and criticizing him. If he doesn't get therapy for this, he will rejoin his family in the afterlife by his own hand.
