The issue with the digital banking age is that you can do everything on the phone or mobile nowadays. There needs to be guidelines and restrictions on what you can achieve online vs in person. Being able to wire 15k with limited verification is mind blowing. It's that fine line where no one wants or needs to go to a branch since we can do everything online vs added security of having to do transactions in person.

how difficult is it for all banks to require two way authentication for e transfer, we have been asking why wouldnt banks do that, if you thinks would do something to stop this from happening, think again, i have no doubt in my mind that most banks are actually colluding with scammers to steal your money, billions of dollars are stolen every year. the money stolen probably goes to only a small portion of senior employees, or how are you going to explain why banks dont allow you to have two way authentication for online transfer or even disable the feature of online transfer... there is no other reasonable explanation, except the banks are involved in these scams..

Even if you go directly to a your branch, they can't pause or freeze your account. transactions are processed centrally and automatically, and the branch, even if they request a freeze can only occur as a bulk or overnight transaction. They don't have the means to quickly stop any transaction in process in their system. Even if the customer had an additional account separate from their checking, they may still be responsible for overdrafts. But two accounts one 'public' and one secure is something I'd look into. Note that the banks sells overdraft and no fee minimum balance. So it's hard even with two separate accounts at two different banks to not pay a fee for the security. All banks are designed to process transactions sequentially, not to stop them.

They did this to me 5yr ago, someone cashed a check somehow into my account so I reported it, they took my money closed my account and told me I was no longer a customer! It cost me around 2grand, but wasn't enough to warrant a legal fight with them 😠

Banks are probably involved with the scammers. Banks can definitely put safeguards in place to stop these transactions, banks need to do better. Personally I would remove all my accounts with BMO if this is how thing treat a longtime loyal customer.

Sure, outsourcing helps to cut costs - which is much more important for bank management. But no has an idea how someone from outside of the bank all of a sudden has all the private information about customers to target and to act on “behalf”. More outsourcing :D

Commission rules lol any transaction results in service charges. Some I imagine are set to the amount of the transaction. Insider in BMO could be selling personal information?
