Yes, pets can be so attached to their bodily scent ... They are so territorial. Somehow, it is also best to keep their 'little room' and stuff clean always.

Yes, cats do that’s why you need to put in a familiar toy in there with scent on, or a towel with his and your scent on or both in their transport cages, I would Think this is similar . Yes its a bother but would guess it would make a more happy Otter.
