By Zim telling the public they can’t ask questions during public comment will land the town in a civil rights lawsuit. The public can ask and say anything they want as long as the speech is protected. So not threats or defamation.

I agree with you. By not allowing the residents to comment on anything that they want pertaining to the city makes anything submitted to the clerk not on the record and the council can just blow them off. Even with the upcoming festival I am seeing the meeting going backwards instead of forward. It's time for them to unincorporate.

As an outsider ( from the UK ) unincorporated the town, then no more problems, and as you said you can't wipe out history and your memories are in your head, the town people are not interested. I think they are slipping back into their old ways,shame, all that hard work.

A quick, inexpensive soundproofing is to use double sided sticky tape and egg cartons. Cut off the lid and stick the eggcarton bottoms onto the walls. We did that in our chorus class because our school couldn't afford sound reducing tiles. The egg carton bottoms worked great. Also, stick on carpet squares, low pile, on the floor will help deaden echoes. There will need to be a very large mat inside the door to catch the dirt and wet, but those are not very expensive. Vacuum after every meeting and business day, and the carpet tiles wills stay clean. They can be cleaned at least twice a year with a rented carpet cleaner. If they don't want carpet tiles, then use those cushioned garage floor mats. Those are not pretty, but will take a beating, don't need to be glued down, can be swept instead of vacuumed, and can be taken outside to wash and dry and put back inside.

It would help the sound if someone would buy very cheap green flower foam. You could cover it with pretty material, and hang them on the wall. They will absorb the sound and make it easier to hear. Just a thought. 😀

Our building had to get new water heaters. Our rent went up 5 percent to pay for it. It was already going up 5 percent. So my rent went up over $100 a month. Living on Social Security and taking part of my annuity each month for bills doesn’t leave much.

I really was disappointed. They did not discuss the festival at all. With it being right around the corner, it seems like the whole town would have been there. They have got a lot of planning to do, and it looks like they're waiting until the last minute to do it. The festival and toys in the creek benefit the whole town. Brett, I have to agree with you, I thank the town needs to unincorporated. It would serve a lot of problems. and certain people wouldn't be able to keep getting away with the things they are getting away with now. God bless you both. I'm afraid when y'all get to Florida all of you have got your hands full, trying to get things ready at the last minute. Which is not fair on any of you.

AAA+++ on the thumbnail! It immediately drew me in. But it wasn’t click bait, lol. I started a Masters program in Public Administration in the 1990s and I think a Masters student could use Otter Creek governance as part of an eventual dissertation. I think they would have cancelled the festival if Jeremy hadn’t married Christmas in the Creek to it. Maybe they’re hoping Jeremy will pick up all of these costs.

I know Joseph was arrested a little while back. His mug shot was posted on the Levy County Mugshots & More fb page. I had to go back and look. It was just for a moving violation on October 12th. Maybe that has something to do with it. But they also don't have him listed as an OC resident on there. They have him listed as a High Springs resident.

Sad that the town continues to just struggle ridiculously instead of giving up & become unincorporated. The arrogance & stupidity of the folk in the town who keep refusing to do this but yet can't even be bothered to turn up at the meeting. Go to Roanoke Va to their good wills and thrift shops a lot of things at them. I no you travel but go to Va and go to (foam hedge) it’s really stone hedge but made out of (foam)….come to Vinton Va right at Roanoke and hit the good wills their to.. it’s beside krogers a lot of goodwills here I go all the time summer time yard sales everywhere block sales so that would be a great adventure for you both… if ya ever decide to come to Roanoke would love to meet the famous mayor from otter creek.
