No the family does not have to go through it every 2 years. For example if the boys father passes away one day and everyone else. And only Susan is left, the parole board itself would look back on the terrible murders and they would quite possibly decide to reject her parole and keep her in prison for longer, on their own judgements and opinions. I know it's morbid to say but it's true. Watch the movie the shawshank redemption. The guy goes through years of parole hearings in there without being released for 40 years. Susan deserves more than 40 years, but the point is the parole board itself will judge her and decide, if no one else or witnesses are there.

The audacity of Susan’s attorney to say if paroled she would like to help care for animals. For what purpose sir……so she can inflict pain and suffering on innocent animals??? She should NEVER be let out jail let alone be allowed to care for anything that lives and/or breathes (which includes plants, animals, or the unwanted mold that finds a way to grow in our homes)!!! STOP WASTING TAXPAYER $$$$ ON THIS MURDERER!!!

I made another comment but feel the need to also say this. I am a mother who has lost a child and my heart goes out to David. You never get over loosing a child you just learn to live with the pain and if she was released that might be the one thing that may push him over the edge. For his well being she needs to stay where she is. Anyone who does something to a child doesnt deserve to live in society because the bible even tells us a child is gods greatest gift besides his sacrifice of his son for us and u have to be evil pure eveil to hurt a child. Two things u cant fix is stupidity and evilness

Even though I don’t live in the states, I so *clearly* remember those news reports where she stood in front of the lake where her children lie and claimed that she was hijacked, with her children in the car. It wasn’t that she was stoic or in shock. From the very first moment, she was *completely* emotionless. Everything that she said and did was so scripted and fake. There was always something off about her. She seemed so glad that she wouldn’t have to see or care for her children ever again.

Never seen a Parole hearing where you had to sit thru a 25 minute soliloquy from the person's attorney before they even get asked 1 question. That's the kind of information the person appearing for Parole is supposed to tell the Parole board.

*I checked her prison profile. She's not a model prisoner. Such as the woman who was a part of the Manson family. She was released in 2022, but she earned degrees, wrote books, among other things. This Susan Smith lady smokes marijuana, causing disturbances to the point she is put into confinement. Away from the population. She loses canteen privileges as well as other privileges due to bad behavior inside her prison. She should know better. The parole board looks at all that for consideration.*
