All mammals have always amazed me with how intelligent they are. Once you get to know them, cats, dogs, rabbits and even chipmunks are mind blowing with how intelligent and aware they are. Our problem as humans, one species of mammal, is that we usually fail to understand our own parameters of smarts don't translate very well. Rabbits might seem pretty dumb to humans who fail to contextually adjust their thinking, but to rabbits we're dumber than dirt. More familiar with dogs and cats who have adjusted to our parameters, most humans fail to recognise rabbits and otters I would say, are relatively smarter than dogs or cats. More personality variation is my reason for making this judgement by the way.

@@GrassPossum I agree 1000% and same with elephants, hyenas, cows, pigs, horses, etc. So many animals! They are so unbelievably intelligent and emotional. It absolutely blows my mind. This was one of the most heartbreaking, yet beautiful video's I've watched in a long time......Her cries made me cry, but the result of those breathtaking babies, is all worth it 💖💖💖

I cried and wanted to hold her hand and try to comfort her and pat her. She was grabbing the bars in pain, poor little thing.. 3 1/2 hours of labor with no epidural. Can you imagine if every human woman had to go through that now a days? Then, a little baby popped out and she didn't know what to make of it at first! She was like, " What in the world IS THAT?" It took a few moments for her to realize she had a BABY! Then, the contractions, AGAIN! Not so long this time, but still PAINFUL. Then, another plop! A second baby! She knew what to do this time. She had to eat the placenta because it's full of nourishment with vitamins and minerals. And she has to lick the privates of the babies because they don't know how to go potty. She's teaching them. I'm sure everyone knows that, but some do not. I think dogs do all of this and cats too. My aunt raised show dogs and this is what happened every time the "bitches" had litters of puppies. I asked my aunt what was going on. Humans didn't do all this stuff, but we have the luxury of epidurals too! We are lucky. :). She's an incredible mommy/okasan. She is taking VERY good care of her pups/babies.

@@belladonna131 yea, that took her by surprise! It some time to investigate, what is that that just came out of her. It looks she was not sure what to make of it. It’s amazing to see how the maternal instinct kicked in.

@@lilliehalumi8770 Trying to get involved (touch, watch, mess with their "nest") with birthing animals, even with good intentions, could endanger both the mom and her baby/ies. @@ayumuchorizo4486 Otters are known to have very distinct and defined personalities. Loutre-mama gave Otsuyu the choice of how to give birth. Otsuyu chose to be in the cage a little ways away from her human-mama but still within eye/earshot. Loutre-mama respected that. Another of Loutre's lady-otters grabbed Loutre-mama's arm and pleaded for comfort as she (the otter) suffered a miscarriage.

Otsuyu IS a baby, now with precious babies of her own. She came through the labor and births like a little trooper. I'm so proud of her! It broke my heart when she cried, and I cried, too. Also when Odashi cried because she was worried about her sister. I believe that otters are the sweetest, most loving little creatures on earth! Congratulations, Mama Otsuyu!😍😘
