I highly suggest to invest to buy an airbrush as it would be a better way to colour fur...with straight up acrylic paint (not watered down or made for airbrushing) it makes the fur all wiery and clumpy.

Yes, I've been really wanting to get one. They look like they do wonders with fur patterns and things. Just need to get a better set up and look into what ones work best.

the doll is cute but I think you could provide even better quality by sewing the parts together and then adding them to the head, so that there is no visible seams or hard chunky glue seams. the face turned adorable though and the doll being posable makes this a great piece of art!

it stresses me out so much to see you use a hot glue gun when everything else is such durable high quality...... hot glue really doesn't last even though it's quick and easy it's not the same sort of durable archival quality that you'd get from most superglues like e6000 or pva glue ;; even if you dabbed a little bit of a stronger glue on and just used the hot glue to hold things in place to dry i'd feel more secure in the longevity of your creations, because they really are beautiful. i just want to see them last!!!!
@bubblyleafcreations7 жыл бұрын
I really appreciate the advice, so you would say a pva glue would work well? I hate using super glue lol. See I'm self taught so everything I do to make my art dolls I've had to just figure out on my own. When I started making them, the people that where making them before me would hide how they did them and where very secretive, not sure why, but because of that everyone I think makes them different. lol! So yes any advice is awesome and helpful. Love trying new things :) thank you.

PVA is an archival quality glue and i'm not sure how it reacts with sculpey but i know from personal use that it reacts really well with fibrous material like fabric and paper. i know that two part epoxy glues and resins are super strong too. there's epoxy sculpt that might work really well for cementing wires into the head and stuff, but i think that takes quite a time to cure.

+BubblyLeaf Most of my armature build's are based on research I did on stop-motion animation armatures, so I feel you on the trial and error! I like to use Locktite two part epoxy resin (I always make sure I get the kind that comes in 2 separate bottles because if you get the double syringe kind, some times they come out uneven) or Oatey plumber's epoxy- both of them begin to set in about 5 minutes, but it's best if you give them a few hours before any rough handling. Some people say the brand of the materials doesn't matter, but I've used different brands and I just really like the consistency of the ones I mentioned. I've also heard people speak well of e6000 glue. Using caulk or a similar insulation sealant to attached the head and feet armature wires might work well, I know some of that stuff sorta turns into a lightweight foam when it hardens... Idk, if they'd expand or anything, so best to experiment. With all of this stuff, just be careful of the fumes- even resins have carcinogen warnings on them and I remember definitely feeling air-headed after using a bunch of epoxy and in a small, not very well ventilated room.
