Nice review. I like how you put the cases side by side and is what I'm also looking for in a review. I watched this because this may be the closest commuter/symmetry case review to the N20 Ultra. Hope you also make one for the Note 20 ultra. Which would you use?

I bought the symmetry and used it for a while and loved it. Then I went for the commuter for the extra protection and found that I couldn't get the power share to work so I went back to the symmetry. Both are great cases.

Yeah the power share is finicky with cases I've seen. Needs very close tolerances to operate correctly.

Hello, you have tested Symmetry for Note 9 and this one for Note 10+, maybe you can help me with this doubt: Symmetry for the Note 9 it was rubberized inside (back of the phone) and has thicker rubber in the edges compared to the Symmetry for Note 10+ which I see is hard plastic inside and rubber in the edges is smaller... am I right in my perceptions? Thanks!

Yeah, the newer ones for newer phones have a harder plastic on the inside vs rubber. You are correct. I think the rubber on the sides is about the same if I recall.

I use the Symmetry on my S9 - and I actually switched from the Defender because undoing those rubber covers each time I wanted to charge got old real fast. I have just pre-ordered the Note 20 Ultra, and am considering getting the commuter case and just using a scalpel to cut the rubber cover off. Would love to see reviews on cases for the Note 20!

I usually use wireless charging with the commuter so it doesn't bother me. But it would be easy to remove!

I used symmetry on Note 9 and just bought Note 10 plus so I got another symmetry for Note 10 plus. But the inside of the case that touches Note 10’s back glass is not soft any more as the Note 9 symmetry. I’m not sure if I got a fake one. On the Note 9 it’s a hybrid design with soft material on the inside.

Yeah, I'm not sure I had one of the older versions. All of the versions that I've had both for the Note and iPhone XS Max have the same sort of hard plastic with that criss crossy design on the inside.

I dropped my NOTE THE OTHER DAY AND IT FLIPPED PERFECTLY AND TAPPED A ROCK THAT WAS JUST HIGH ENOUGH TO MAKE SO THE SURROUNDING BUMPER DIDNT HELP -luckily i had the extra layer of glass otherwise it would have been a $300 repair !!! Need an extra mm on the side bumpers!!

The symmetry is good but the plastic breaks on the bottom right corner where it opens for the S pen, my first one broke there, and my second one just broke there. It's been 2 years so I can't fault them, how long are these expected to last?

That sucks, I haven't had an issue with that. However I've had a few other problems - and Otterbox has replaced for free under warranty. Should contact them to see.

@@TisforTech I’ve never bothered with warranty, I figured it’d take too long, either be without one for x period of time, or have to have a backup for the mean time. The first one I got in store new, fifty bucks, then,the second one on EBay for 10. And I just ordered a clear Spigen for 6 on EBay, If i learned anything, it’s to buy this crap online rather than in store😎 I did get the blue 2 piece otter box for my IPhone 12 and a lil plastic bridge right there by where I plug it in broke clean off, but I’m not gonna bother replacing it. What’s funny my mom has the A71 5G, I bought here some knock off case for 7 no name just cause she liked the color, and hers makes mine look cheap AF🤣

hello great review! one question .... I read many users who complain that the silicone part underneath tends to loosen and detach from the rigid part. Can you give me some more detailed information? thank you

I haven't had that issue - but I also don't remove the phone from the case a ton. I would think that if you are often removing it - you might have a situation where it might get soft/loose/detach.

It's a 2 piece case. Put the rubber piece on first then clip the hard case on. ZERO struggle putting it on. Been using a otter box 2 piece case for my note 1, 2, 4, and 6. Best protection short of a defender. Had one for my note 6. Much too big. Getting a note 10+, and will install a computer on it. I just hope a glass screen protector will work with it.

I think that most likely the screen protector will work with it. It seems like there would be enough room. But it might depend on the glass protector itself and the tolerances... Let me know if it does work!

If you drop it on the edge where the pen is it will damage phone I've experienced that. The protection sucks on the corner where the pen is located.

Side by side case comparison for fitment and to show the difference. Wireless charging works on most all cases I've seen. Wireless power share is finnicky - doesn't work with thicker cases. Symmetry works sometimes depending on what you are trying to charge. If it's another phone with a case - no.
