Exactly 10 years ago, Otto von Habsburg died at the age of 98 at his home in Pöcking. The coffin was first laid out in public in the St. Ulrich Church in Pöcking, in the Theatinerkirche St. Kajetan in Munich and in the Mariazell Basilica in Styria. Otto von Habsburg's coffin was laid out in Mariazell before being taken to the Capuchin Church in Vienna. On 16 July 2011, the coffin was transferred to St. Stephen's Cathedral in Vienna, where on the same day the Viennese Archbishop Cardinal Schönborn, representing Pope Benedict XVI, said the funeral mass in the presence of foreign heads of state and the Austrian Federal President. The imperial anthem was played at the ceremony. I can remember that security was tight, parts of the public transport were closed and it felt like an unofficial state funeral. The video shows a knocking ceremony, which, as far as I know, only happened twice in this form in Vienna.
