I wish there was a DPI setting as on my Lexus screen only 2 icons fit on AA. Carlinkkit 4.0 had all the customization options except the screen resolution did. It fit my car screen. It either was shrunk with black bars or zoomed in cutting off top and bottom. Ottocast fit perfect.

Hi @CarPlay Life and thanks for your great channel and reviews. I own the U2-X Pro adapter and i am pretty happy for using it for Wireless Android Auto in my Mercedes car. I have a question though, you mentioned that the USB-A interface is for passthrough. Will it work in a scenario that you have the adapter already connected to the car and then you add an AI box or another adapter to the USB-A port? Can you please let me know?

No it won’t work like that I think. Good question though but I doubt it will work. You’re better off connecting the AI box directly

It doesn’t do video. It’s just a wired to wireless adapter. For video you need an Ai box

I have the U2 Air and Cplay2Air. Ordered and wanted to try the U2-X Pro and received it today. It goes into a boot loop when connected to the car. I can't OTA update when it is doing this so I am not sure what to do.

You could try connecting it to a powered wall adapter and look on your phones Wi-Fi settings for the adapters Wi-Fi network to show up. Then connect and use pass either 12345678 or 88888888. Once connected to it, then go to the IP config menu in your phones browser.

Hi there. I have an 2015 Opel Astra which only came with Carplay installed. Can i use this dongle to use AA on my CP only car? Also, is the phone charging when pluggin it in into the dongles USB? Thank you for your answers. I only can get the non pro version of this here in Germany, i hope it still works as good as the pro in your video.

Yes it should allow this. I don’t think it does wired passthrough but you should be able to charge from the port

I have a Mercedes a class with MBUX that shows CarPlay at a silly cut off resolution. Would this show it full screen and wireless? Also would I need to purchase CarPlay activation from the Mercedes store for it to work?

It will display exactly how CarPlay displays when using it wired. So if that’s cut off then it will be much the same. If you need to activate CarPlay you will need to do that. It won’t bypass it.

You’ll need AA on your phone for it to work with an adapter. This might not me the case after android 12 OS but I’m not 100% sure on that. If your car has CarPlay you can try an AI Box and install android auto onto that to run car friendly apps native on the adapter and skip your phone.

Yes that should work if it has CarPlay. This adapter is discontinued now though so you might find it hard to buy. Alternative is a CarPlay Ai Box

Usually they list this on their website. I assume it has wired CarPlay? It needs that.

@@miguelmartin so I don’t know about AAuto but in CarPlay you go into settings on your iPhone the. General and then CarPlay. Select the system name for your vehicle and in there will be apps. Tap and drag them around in the list to change the order. To remove music you have to tap and hold to remove it from your phone. Then it won’t show.

Thank you for the review. So I guess I will stay with my U2-X. Do you know if the U2-X or U2-X Pro reads the satellite data from the car, or only from phone? I sent an email to Sam from Ottocast, but he never replied. I guess it is normal after sales for a Chinese product, I didn't had my expectations high anyway :) Cheers!

With just wireless dongles all the GPS is either coming from your phone or the car. Without the option to switch to either I assume it will be from your phone than from the car. Though I am not 100% on that.

Hey Is there any adaptor without audio time lag? I even tried wired android auto with carlinkit 4 and still encountered the lag

Lag is a trait we have to live with at the moment. Wireless connection has more lag over Bluetooth. Only way to improve this is likely wifi6 chips but no one has done that right yet.

No your system needs wired CarPlay at least to function.

sadly, my issue is that it connects to my stereo using Carplay, even though I clearly have a Samsung S22 with AA. Any idea how to get it to that fixed? the car does have wired AA & Carplay options, and AA works wired just fine.

Either go with a wireless adapter for AAuto or get a 2in1 adapter for CarPlay that your android can connect to for wireless AAuto

This device converts wired CarPlay to wireless Android Auto and wireless CarPlay. I have a Pixel 7 Pro and it shows the CarPlay logo in my car but when I click on it I still get Android Auto. This is the only device that I have tried that does not give me any choppy audio when navigating and listening to music at the same time.

Try to buy this adapter. But i cannot connect using my iphone 13 with ios 16.2. But when using iphone XS with ios 16.1.1, it works flawelsy. So i think its not compatible to ios 16.2 ?

Until they bring out a box with a wifi6/6E chip there will still be some kind of delay. That’s how WiFi4-5 Works sadly 🤷🏻‍♂️ For many. That delay isn’t that bad. For music and navigation it can be very tolerable. It’s just some have it worse than others for calling.
