A multinational band consisting of representatives of the indigenous peoples of Siberia, the group Otyken releases a new single "Chukotka". The song is dedicated to the indigenous peoples of the Far North, their culture and a way of life. The lyrical composition, along with ethnic, traditional musical instruments and throat singing, takes the listener to the vast expanses of the northern seas, covered with a thick layer of ice, under which “sea animals” - whales - are hidden. The lyrics, written in Chulym language, raise pressing questions about the conservation of nature and the environment, ecology and sea pollution, and the consequences of unscrupulous oil production. Using the example of the Chukotka Peninsula, the song reflects the family and cultural values of the indigenous peoples of Siberia, as well as their gratitude to older generations for preserving traditions and opportunities to do what they love.

From their early years to now Otyken have had a message to present. Also this song is another example of their musical versatility as well. Just beautiful. Otyken is really the first group to draw some major attention to the region of Siberia, which most people have sadly never heard of. Good job showing this one Old Man.👍

If you think why they look like American Indians because 40000 years ago American Indians lived in Siberia in Chukotka and crossed the Bering Strait to Alaska and spread throughout the Americas.

They were not native Americans then. If they lived in Siberia how could they be "native Americans"? Is Siberia in the Americas then? These people are of Asian ancestry. As of course are the American Indians. As are the Inuit (Eskimos).

The Chukotka region does not belong to the Siberian region of Russia, but to the Far Eastern Federal District of Russia.

What a way to get ready for my 2:30 am shower before this "retired" guy goes to work. Not a sound I expected from them and the throat singing is so different! Gonna pass this on to native friends of mine (most of them from my union acttivites and ask my oldest son to pass it on to peope he knows from Indian Heritage High and Read Eagle Soaring theatre program an Native Warrior Basketball No we are not native (gotta go back the ate 1700's for that in the family tree so does not count.
