Perfect “wake up” game and moment for OU. Every year, every top team has a game like this, where they just don’t play well (see GA/Mizzou lasted year, 2019 LSU at Auburn, 2010 Auburn at Kentucky). Sometimes you just have to find a way.

This game felt like the 2000 Bedlam game in that it basically came down to our defense making a stop. There are a lot of differences between this game and the Bedlam game, but it just gave me that "do or die" vibe. In 2000 it was the last game of the regular season and it came down to our defense making one last stop, and we did it. Derrick Strait knocked the ball away in the end zone. Our offense still had to run out the clock, but it was really the defense who won the game in the end. This game came down to our defense stopping the 2 point conversion, and they did. The onside kick was a lot closer than it should've been, but we got it and ran the clock out. But it felt like it was the defense that really won us the game at the end.

It’s been well documented that I’ve been critical of the kicking game all off-season and to start this season. In saying that, my criticism very early in the offseason was saying that’s something we need to address. When I stated that, it was to either get our kickers up to par or get another kicker in to push the kickers OU has. Now, that it’s what we got and that’s that. I do agree, if supporting the guys in a positive way will help get them in the right frame of mind, I’m all for it. So let’s go guys, you can get it down the field and through the uprights. You’re a Sooner with a great team on your back. So, take us where we want go. Boomer guys, let’s go.

Majors reminds me of Kejuan Jones. Lots of running into his blockers and getting tackled by his ankles because he doesnt get his knees up and spends too much time bouncing around behind the line instead of hitting the hole. It’s the played called to many inside runs
@jeremypopkess3460 Жыл бұрын
I'd agree if that were the only time Majors gets caught up at the line, but it happens whether it's B-gap or an edge run. He is at his best on the sweeps/flats passes where he gets the ball in space and is able to run. When he's having to burst through a hole or shake off an arm tackle he just doesn't have the explosiveness to make it happen. I'm not saying our o-line is getting the job done for run-blocking, but there have been holes opened up that Majors could get through, but he runs too timid. I'm surprised Coach Murray hasn't helped Majors address that issue.@@TylerVann-xw3ih

Any thoughts on why we rotate all of the defensive positions except for our LBs? I realize they are the QB’s of the defense, but i don’t see why Kip Lewis couldn’t get a series or two with Stutsman, or Mckinzie in there on a play or two. It seemed pretty clear that both got tired in the last two games and given the limited number of chances, Kip has made the most of them with big plays. It’s also hard to say either aren’t ready, because I’ve watched Jared at least, bust responsibilities as well. Jared also missed on another free run to the QB, and in third downs Lewis seems to have better skills.

I am a Sooner fan that has lived in Arkansas & Cali so been to SEC & Pac12 games and seen/heard fans from all over. What I have noticed is that OU home crowd fan base tends to be more spoiled and nervous in close home games, causing them to be a bunch of golf clappers sipping wine in tight games. lol ugh Additionally, I am a believer that these nervous and negative vibes can roll off onto the players too. It seems to me that the SEC fans will cheer VERY loud in hopes it makes their team score or play defense. Where as OU fans are waiting for the team to give them a reason to cheer and be loud (backwards). (this same spoiled brat tendencies seem to have made their way to the OKC Thunder crowds too).
