I've often wondered if the relationship between Mal & Maleficent was modeled on Cora & Regina. The similarities are borderline-spooky.

Regina and Mal's similarities with one another , their backgrounds , their parentage, their character development , their redemption arcs , their endings , their choice of colour for coronations (I think it was lavender ) ,theiir boyfriends , the ones who beleieved in them , their status as queens , them unting the lands in series finale and their endings are beyond spooky . I conclude that it was always Mal , not Evie , who was being Regina Jr all along .
