Good morning. Seems like a pretty sweet unit. The flicker of the display on camera only is due to the fps(frames per second) setting on your camera compared to the displays refresh rate. This often happens when filming led displays, headlights on vehicles, etc.

I wish this was available when we built our house in 1990. Technology has come a long way in these units. What would you estimate the life of the battery might be through normal use?

Technology has definitely come so far for sure! And the battery should last about 8 years, if not more!
