The EWG N20s are underrated for sure. I’m sure on a RWD F30, it’ll handle really nicely with the right suspension mods.

2013 BMW n20 here... first bmw.. definitely have mix emotions about it.. ik it has potential it just definitely needs the maintenance / reliability mods first.. doesn’t have a crazy platform so videos and resources are hard to find in my opinion. would love more of these definitely!!! Trust y’all over most!! I’m so scared of my timing chain.. I don’t have the money for it😭

​@@stevhandingwall2028Take my advice, BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING, address all the maintenance items up or it will pile up and kick you in the ass when you least expect it to. Bad suspension on this chassis becomes prominent early on, get some quality coilovers and refresh the arms or replace them with spherical bushings/tubular arms. The front lower/upper control arms and rear tie rod seem to be the first to go, you'll know when the car has difficulty going straight or feels like it's crab walking under torsional load. If beating the piss out of the car, drive line mounts will quickly follow suit. Stock replacement mounts for the engine and trans work well but I'd throw delrin/solid mounts in both the diff and subframe. Alternatively you could upgrade to a SLG Ford 8.8 rear end. If you have the sport steering rack there's a pinion repair kit that fixes the hollowness at the center of the rack. Honestly after that everything is up to you, fbo is where most people stop since this platform doesn't have the momentum that the inline six motors have. If you're going to be using E85 consistently, clean your injectors, use quality aftermarket fuel filters (ID750, Radium Microglass 6 micron, etc), and stay on top of your oil changes with an oil analysis. Add an oil cooler too unless you're comfortable cruising with 250° oil temps; setrab and some braided lines and you're good to go

TTE400 Turbo with B58TU HPFP and upgrade injectors on a full e85 custom tune with FBO can safely push about 360whp on stock internals. Definitely a great power to weight ratio.

I currently own an E60 520d (M47) base spec and my heart isn't fully set on whether I want to keep it as it is or go all out on mods. It's the least popular engine spec of the line but its been tuned and is very quick. Second best driving car behind E46. I know that 4 cylinder BMWs are underrated and pack many pleasant surprises but many would avoid them given the choice.
