Nice rig. Summer of 2020 I picked up a 2003 2 wheel drive Chinook Baja with the 7.3 powerstroke. Last fall I had it converted to a 4x4 by Ujoint off-road. You did an awesome job with your rig.

@Joe Blow . When I purchased it I got as good as 15 mpg. It was 2 wheel drive at that time. Since the 4x4 conversion I'm only getting 8-10 mpg. I think I have something going on that's affected my mpg. I scanned it and it came up with a code for a faulty exhaust back pressure sensor. From what I've read if those get plugged up it can have a negative effect on engine performance. I ordered a new one today and I hope replacing it gets me back around 12 mpg.

Great build. I chose a B+ on a E450 and had a shop lift and do the 4X4 conversion. I had to go with a Cambria to make my wife happy with the amenities however. I'm now pondering some new rims and tires but don't want to run spacers on the duels.

Love you dedication. That must have a lot of hours work. Great finish. Totally disagree with your thought that generators are ok. In this day and age solar is the go. When some numpty parks near me with a noisy generator I’m really not impressed. Now you need to follow up with a good camping trip video.

Problem! Do some searching on solar panel shading and you’ll see many test videos showing how shading even a tiny portion of a panel knocks its overall output down to near zero. A key consideration when mounting so close to tall items like the air conditioner shown here. Otherwise amazing build! Best wishes. 👍🏻

Incredible build. The frame off swap, engine work and body work is easy to overlook to most people passing by, but makes a HUGE difference in regard to what this van is worth now. If you have a ton of archive photos and footage it would be awesome to see some post mortem edits, especially on how you re-fastened that body onto the ambo chassis. That build of yours was the "gold standard" Good points about body off restoration. I am doing that now with a 7.3 cutaway Quigley. In the mean time trying to get a second that is adventure/emergency ready. I am near the train wreck and to have mobility is CRITICAL

If that ever changes, I would love to see pictures of things such as prepping the chassis of the ambulance for the camper shell and removal and reinstall onto the new chassis. It doesn't seem tremendously complicated but since I am going to be doing it this spring, going in not totally blind would be awesome. And of course if you make a second video, I'd love to watch it.

I've been scratching my head about a 7.3 engine swap and it seemed to be way more complicated than I wanted. A chassis or camper shell swap is definitely the way to go.

@@JustDriven I am lucky for sure. The exterior is in pretty good shape..was a Florida rig most of its life, but would like new bumpers, foglights, spare cover. I'm having some clear coat peeling on the beautiful graphics. The interior needs the most help. Previous leaks have caused stains and floor and cabinet damage. I bought it in March and couldn't even drive it home. But I intend to bring her back. I am looking for a shop that has a passion for this and knows what the best brands of accessories are for this rig. Thanks for responding.

You need hard solar , the crap soft panels will go out in one summer . You spent the money but missed the boat on good solar panels for this at is not a problem on this rig , it is already to top heavy for and real off road stuff anyway , a fire road look at me rig.....the motor sucks will die with in 150,000 mile if that , they over heat no matter what do .
