I'm wondering why they left that 10-11" recess at the dining table.If there was a slightly wider cross pad it would make for a larger front bed when deployed.Also,they could have installed a larger fridge...a 12 volt one at that and put the microwave across the way above the sink. The sink is awesome for such a small trailer. Oh,and the microwave could have been a "convection" style,being that it has no oven.Lower end trailers have that.Id get one if they widened it by 8" and lengthened it by only 12"Theres a lot they do for what they charge but a lot they dont.Other than that I'd give it a 7.8.

Beautiful camper - I love the brightness of it inside! However, I think it's kind of a shame that they put that amazing huge window on the front of the camper where your view is always gonna be the back of your truck. It would be nice to have that on the back end of the camper that overlooks the woods or the lake where ever you are parked. I guess if it was me, I'd just prefer to have the layout switched around with the view and the dinette area in back. Nice job on showing this camper and all its features!

Only question I have is if you were going to travel a good amount of time in this camper is where would you keep your clothes and jackets?? Also thorough video! Thanks!
@CouchPotatoCamping Жыл бұрын
Good question! And one we had to really put some thought into, too. We kept our jackets and some shoes in the cabinets over the bed. However, because these cabinets are weird shaped and don't hold much, it wasn't an option for more than a few items of clothing. However, we could have smushed clothing into packing cubes and kept it up there more easily. We also kept towels up there. We tried putting clothes in the cabinets over the dinette, which also worked. But after several months of travel, here is what worked: Kim had a soft basket that was full of her clothes which stayed on the bed in the corner during the day, and was moved to the dinette at night. Daniel had a large box of clothes that was stashed underneath the kitchen sink. While none of these options is probably what you want to hear, that's what we found to be best. As far as jackets, if you are hanging them the best place is in the bathroom. Many people put Command Hooks on the walls to hold jackets, but there is only so much room in the trailer and it clutters up easily, especially if you have clothing hanging on your walls.

@CouchPotatoCamping Жыл бұрын
Yes. The only storage area under the dinette is the section near the door (it’s actually larger than you might think). The center section is actually where the propane tank area is located which is accessible only from the exterior. The other side is where the battery is located and you’re not supposed to store anything in there.

Have you had the dreaded axle problems? That's what's making me hesitant of getting one, unless I want to put more money in to get it fixed right.
@CouchPotatoCamping2 жыл бұрын
Judy, our axle was replaced just in case. So, no, we don't have the axle problem. Don't be hesitant about getting one. If you are getting a model year that had the issue, many of the previous owners have already had it replaced. So just ask if you are buying used, and if you are buying a new 2022, then no worries about the axle replacement.
@CouchPotatoCamping2 жыл бұрын
The previous owner of our 2021 Sol Horizon had the axle upgraded to avoid the axle issues. During that process, they also added a 2" lift to ours like you see on the Sol Horizon Rover models. Many people with bad axles are getting theirs replaced through the warranty process at no cost to them, but I've read mixed reviews of that process.

What tips do you have for keeping the wet bath clean? Do you find that conditioner/shampoo make the toilet slimy or anything?
@CouchPotatoCamping Жыл бұрын
We never had an issue with hair products making the wet bath nasty. After every shower we used a squeegee on all the walls and floor to get latent water off - that seemed to help the most. For cleaning we used a mild soap (in our case Branch Basics) and a microfiber cleaning sponge/cleaning eraser (we get ours at the Dollar Store). We don’t suggest cleaning it with a brush or anything rough as it will destroy the gel coat on the fiberglass walls in the wet bath. Thank you for watching!

Can it be used in the winter?
@CouchPotatoCamping Жыл бұрын
While it’s not technically a four season trailer, it could be used in the winter if your winter destinations were mild temperatures. The biggest concerns would be keeping the fresh water line from freezing and the fresh water and grey/black water tanks from freezing. A strong emphasis on mild-weather winter destinations.
@andrewbrowning2281 Жыл бұрын
I have a question--when you are towing the Sol Horizon, do you run the refrigerator off the truck battery through the seven-way cable? A salesman told us that would drain the trailer's battery.
@CouchPotatoCamping Жыл бұрын
The most efficient way to run the refrigerator when towing is using propane - a power source option on many RV refrigerators including the 2021 Sol Horizon. Once you reach your destination you would then want to switch the refrigerator’s power source to electric/shore power (if available at your destination). I never powered the refrigerator off the RV’s battery when towing since it is a less efficient power source, however some people prefer using the RV house battery option over using propane when towing (a minor debate in the RV world). The refrigerator pulls power from the RV’s house battery when selected using that power source on the fridge. When towing your seven pin cable will charge the RV’s house battery as you drive - the fridge will not pull power directly from your tow vehicle’s battery since the trailer’s wiring is not designed and wired that way.

@CouchPotatoCamping2 жыл бұрын
Our lips are sealed! Actually, the door to the wet bath on the InTech trailers IS a standard exterior RV door. Seems odd but it actually seals great for showers. We believe the quality of the InTech RV's - including the Sol Horizons - is far better than other comparable travel trailer manufacturers. The previous owner of our 2021 Sol Horizon had the axle upgraded to avoid the axle issues many are having. They also added a 2" lift to ours like you see on the Sol Horizon Rover models. The outdoor hose is cold water only and is not connected to the hot water lines or hot water tank in the trailer.
@andrewbrowning2281 Жыл бұрын
@@CouchPotatoCamping To clarify the axle story--a very few owners (under 10) of the first year's production had failures of the axle attachment weld. InTech (or Dexter, the axle manufacturer) replaced ALL of the initial year's run and that was that. Nobody had a failure while driving, by the way.
@jennidumlao37722 жыл бұрын
Hello Ben shopping for a trailer never owned one bf. What is the approximate cost of this trailer? Ty
@CouchPotatoCamping2 жыл бұрын
Cost will depend on which model of the Sol Horizon you purchase - there are two models of the Sol Horizon: the base model and the Rover. The base 2022 Sol Horizon model MSRP's (depending on where in the U.S. you buy it) starting around $36k to $39k. The Sol Horizon Rover model we are seeing MSRP prices at $42k and above. The prices for either model will vary depending what features/options are included or added if you order a new one. Used Sol Horizons are going for a few thousand dollars cheaper than the prices listed above depending on location, options, model year, etc. One thing to note is the current demand for InTech RV's, including the Sol Horizons, is high with a low supply. Something to consider if you're looking to purchase a new or used one.

Wonderful! What type of vehicle does one need to pull this?
@CouchPotatoCamping3 жыл бұрын
We've seen a plethora of different types of tow vehicles for this particular trailer. While most are pickup trucks there are some Sol's being towed with SUVs, etc. It really gets down to the tow vehicle's ability to meet its specific GVWR requirements and its tongue weight capacity which those two specs can vary even within the vehicle's brand/model. You really have to look at a vehicle's specific towing specs rather than just broad-brush assumptions of a particular line of vehicles (this is even the case with respect to pickup trucks). The other thing to consider is, depending on the type of tow vehicle, is to evaluate if it will require a weight distribution hitch to meet its specific manufacturer's towing requirements for a specific tow vehicle model. I know this response sounds high-level, but when it comes to towing you really have to get specific to a particular vehicle you might be considering as a tow vehicle and check it's specs to confirm if it will be able to tow the Sol Horizon or other trailers. What type of vehicle are you considering to tow a Sol Horizon?

Hey nice video! I am looking for buying one but have a quick question: Do you know the tongue weight when it's fully loaded and water tanks full? I know the brochure says something less than 495lb but I'd like to know the real world situation. Thank you!
@CouchPotatoCamping2 жыл бұрын
Hey! The 495 lbs weight listed by InTech - as we've been told - is with the Sol Horizon dry/empty. In actuality we've recorded the tongue weight at approximately 560 lbs when the trailer (not fully loaded) weighed in at 3,600+/- lbs. The 560 lbs was the actual tongue weight since we do not have a load distribution hitch or sway control on our Sol Horizon. That ratio (560/3600) falls in line with the industry recommendations where they suggest you want your tongue weight to be 10% - 15% of your trailer's overall weight. Thank you for the comments and questions!

Windows have no bug screens?

Actually, the four operable windows in the Sol Horizon have bug screens: the emergency escape window at the bed area, the kitchen window, and the two smaller windows at the front dinette area.

Great video....we're scheduled to get ours the first week of January, so I'm sure we'll be watching this again. Very helpful! Quick question do you have a generator, or do you think one is needed?
@CouchPotatoCamping3 жыл бұрын
Mike, the need for a generator will truly depend on your style of RVing/camping. If you plan to stay in campsites or locations 80%+ of the time that have partial or full hookups, investing in a generator may not be required. However, if you plan to boon dock or RV/camp off the grid a majority of the time, then I would suggest getting some sort of generator whether it is a gas, propane or a lithium 'generator' option such as a Jackery. Something else to consider if you plan to RV off the grid a high percentage: the locations and time of year you plan to RV/camp will also factor into the need for a generator. For example, if you plan to go out west in the summer or Florida (almost anytime of the year), you will most likely want the use of your A/C to deal with heat and humidity. On the flip side, if you plan to RV/camp in the shoulder seasons or winter seasons you may want a generator to help keep your RV warm. Remember, you cannot run your 110V outlets, A/C or your RV's heat off your standard RV house batteries, you need some sort of supplemental power such as shore power or generator power. Thank you for the questions. Please feel free to ask us more!

What do you tow this with? A V8 truck or similar, I'd expect. It must be a beast at highway speeds for any v6 cross-over with 5000 tow rating with that inward angle and top lip catching as much air drag as possible. There is a reason for rounded or sloped front ends on the very best trailers available. It seems like a laughable design, aerodynamically.
@CouchPotatoCamping2 жыл бұрын
We tow ours with a Ford F-150 with the V6 EcoBoost engine and factory tow package. The Sol Horizon being an all aluminum frame and substructure with an all fiberglass shell (and just under 4,000 lbs fully loaded) tows really well. Our Ford has a lot of torque so even when the Sol Horizon is loaded for long (30+ day) trips I rarely knew the trailer was back there. We don't need to use a load distribution hitch or sway control when towing with our setup with the F-150. The only noticeable sway I've ever dealt with towing the Horizon with our setup was in Arizona with strong 40+ mph crosswinds, otherwise no major sway issues. On the highways I could easily tow our Horizon at 65 mph with no issues, still maintain decent MPG, and have plenty of power to pass large trucks, etc. if necessary.

@@CouchPotatoCamping Thanks for your reply. My comment was intended to warn v6 cross-over drivers that there 5000 tow rating is meaningless if you can't get to highway speeds due to excessive wind drag. They will end up with an F-150 like yours after realizing massive wind drag will keep them from meeting the speed limits on most highways.

@@joecurry7249 We tow with an Audi Q7 3.0 v6. No problem whatsoever--just have to watch the speedometer to stay under 75 mph.

The design looks like someone came up with in the 1950’s of what the future of campers would be like in the 1990’s. If that makes sense.
