There is a way to make larger trailers light enough for mid-sized SUVs. Try the way European manufacturers make theirs. They call them Caravans. There's no frame in the walls, roof, or floor, not counting the steel frame underneath. They make theirs out of composite panels, which are very light and very strong and don't have a frame. It's monocoque construction. The only wood used is for the furniture, cupboards, closet and inside walls. The underframe is made of tensile steel, so less steel is needed, further reducing weight. Most of them weigh less than 1,950 kilograms (4,290 pounds) Even the 25-footers weigh around 3,000 pounds. There's a Swedish company called Kabe that makes a 35-footer that weighs 5,500 pounds. A simple full-sized half-ton truck could tow that. That's why it's very common in Europe to see those caravans even the bigger ones being towed by mid-sized SUVs and mid-sized cars. Because most of them weigh less than 4,290 pounds they don't require a weight distribution hitch for towing. Even the bigger ones only have cassette toilets, separate water tanks and grey water tanks. They aren't attached under the floor. Instead, you walk the tank over to the nearest tap, fill it up which is 40 litres (10.5 gallons), roll it back, connect it to a valve on the side and turn on the pump. The grey water tank too. You connect it to drain pipes under the trailer and just wheel it away to be emptied as needed. You guys should look into those and consider those manufacturing methods.

Use liquid nails to adhere the velcro to the frame and no amount of heat will ever make it come off.

The baskets are about 14 inches long at the top. They are similar in size to these Target baskets, which come in a variety of colors. These plastic baskets are about 1/2 inch shorter and 1/2 inch smaller in the width, but the length is about the same. (affiliate link) goto.target.com/R5vjey

Really disappointing to hear how cold the walls get in 40-50 degree weather. For that “build quality” you keep mentioning, I’d expect a better insulated wall design. I’ve seen the build videos by Intech and there is only a thin insulated foil layer in the walls. I had not heard about the condensation issues with all that high dollar glass. All of the sheet OSB wood product that comprises the interior panels such as the dinette and bed is very sensitive to moisture. I guess it would be great for camping only in arid environments but condensation is a huge concern for me. I definitely appreciate your honesty and thorough review! Thanks!

Does it matter where you put the water regulator, meaning right off of the spigot or closer to the trailer? Do you need a LEGO block under your stabilizer on soft or gravel sites? Is there a “hose” connection on the camp side of the trailer? Do you use it for anything?? I am just curious we pick up our Dusk in a few weeks and you are the only video I have found that has a horizon setting up process. Trying to start a how to list or step by step list and assign duties so there is less arguing. I am having trouble understanding the whole leveling process so I know that will not be my job😂😂. I will be watching other videos for help with storage and other stuff. Do you have a PDF of how to set up? That would be helpful or I am going to rewatch and write each step down to make sure I do not miss anything.
@CouchPotatoCamping
@CouchPotatoCamping 4 ай бұрын
Thank you for watching! Here's our comments to your questions: 1. We typically place the water pressure regulator near the source-side of the water spigot and hose. 2. If the RV parking spot or site is on soft ground, such as sand, etc. then we will place one leveling block under each stabilizer to help distribute the load. 3. RV potable water hose connections and fresh water fills are typically on the driver's side of most RV's, though we've seen and toured a few that have these connections on the passenger side of the RV. It will vary by RV manufacturer. Often, RV's have fresh water hose connections on the passenger (camp side) of the RV like the InTech Sol Horizon to wash gear off, hose down dirty pets, etc. I've only used ours once or twice. 4. Currently, we don't have a PDF with a set up checklist - we felt the video format could provide more detail and explanation. However, on our website we do have a first-timer essential RV gear guide: couchpotatocamping.com/essential-rv-gear-for-new-rvers/

I have listening to this video twice and still not sure of the name of the mattress toppers you are talking about. I have a full size coil spring mattress in 5th wheel I love but the size is off. The full is too large to even fit my hand in to make bed, the twin will be too small. I need a 49x71" and these toppers may be the answer. I am a side-sleeper with back issues. The height is 6 1/2" max as this is a steel horse trailer 5th wheel so height is set. It's called a Weekender. What is the name of these toppers, where to buy?

What is your truck fuel mileage like towing the Intech?
@CouchPotatoCamping
@CouchPotatoCamping 9 ай бұрын
I was getting about 10 - 12 MPG with about 350+/- miles on a full tank. To give some background on my truck. It has a 36 gallon tank with the EcoBoost V6. Under non towing conditions I can get 600 miles on a full tank at about 22 - 23 MPG. The 10 - 12 MPG with roughly 350 mile range while towing held true on our first travel trailer (33' long) and was about the same when we towed our InTech Sol Horizon (which surprised me as I thought it would be better with a shorter and lighter travel trailer). Of course, road conditions, terrain, elevation above sea level, outside temperature, etc, etc. will greatly affect your MPG when towing. All of this is based on us towing both of our travel trailers across country out west multiple times.
