Hello fellow Grech owner’s. We picked up our 2022 Grech Terreno-Ion this past August. It’s their 22’ model, although it’s actually 23’, so not sure why they call it 22’. So far we love it. We also own a 27’ Airstream travel trailer for the past 11 years. So being somewhat airstream snobs, once we decided we also wanted a ClassB we wanted an Airstream Interstate. However, after looking closely at those and then discovering Grech, ignoring the Mercedes part cause that’s the same, we think the Grech is quite a bit of higher quality, especially their Ion package! Yes, the Airstream has the equivalent in their E1 package but that adds 24K to an already more expensive van, but I guess it’s all relative since they are all expensive. We thought the Strada was just a big too long although it does have quite a bit more storage, and the Turismo was too short since we travel with two large dogs and needed the full use of the bed. It’s sometimes a comedy of errors getting into bed at night but it works. We are sure you will love your Grech as well

We put a deposit down on the Terreno and we’re ready to move forward but knew we wanted some extra storage boxes on the rear so that would make it even longer. So decided to go with the 19’ Turismo instead and so far it is amazing. Can’t say enough good things about the Ion package - we used to have an Airstream Interstate 19 and loved it but sold it earlier this year in order to buy one with the E1 package. After doing research and seeing what Grech offered, we switched. Such awesome units!

@@howwevan one other thing we love about Grech, at least so far, is there customer service. Our dealer was not very helpful, was not responding to a few questions we had after using it few times, so I called Grech directly, was speaking to a human within a minute and got answers to my questions right away, solving a few issues

I have a 22 Strada ion tour. Love it. Had same issue with window shades but discovered that they work perfectly if you install them onto the frames with doors open. Love the shades….very premium and very expensive to replace. Peace.

Interesting - we replaced with Van Essential window covers which seem to work pretty well but still aren’t a perfect solution. May have to give the originals another try. Thanks for the info and safe travels in your Strada Ion (so jealous of all the extra space!). Merry Christmas!

I like this better than the Airstream and the American Patriot. The only thing that I don't like about this, and it is a big deal is the dump tank. This should have a macerator System.

I hear that a lot, but honestly... I don't mind the "gravity" system versus the macerator at all (we used to have an Airstream AI19 that had a macerator). The gravity system is faster and works 100% of the time - I'd probably choose a gravity system over a macerator if given the choice. Now I do wish they'd put in an automatic sliding door like the Airstream. The Mercedes door is pretty heavy, especially on any kind of hill, and takes a good amount of force to close each time you use it.

Yep - love the drivability and parkability of the 19’ Sprinters. No where we can’t go! You compromise on living space and storage with the shorter units but for quick, impromptu trips it’s hard to beat.

@@gt-c- Very little differences between 22/23. Laguna Table standard with front/rear mounts are the main. Mirror on the interior of the bathroom door. First impression was very good. love our van.

No doubt it is a premium product at a premium price. But we found the “value” in the Grech substantially higher then several other high-end manufacturers’ units (especially on the features that mattered most to us). And don’t be afraid to bargain with a dealer or two in search of a good deal. Regardless, hope to see you on the road some day and let us know what van you end up with.

Hi … no the van did not come with a spare tire, we purchased that ourselves through a tire company. On the back, we have Owl products … a ladder and tire carrier on one side and two boxes on the other. We just saw the new 2024 Grech Turismo-Ion at La Mesa RV today. We are still stuck between getting a 170 or a 144 wheelbase van. I really like the size of the smaller van and the ability to park anywhere. I am curious what you think of the RV after having it for a while, particularly your experience with boondocking. How long can you run the A/C off of the batteries? How long does it take the solar to recharge them? Anything you wish they had done different? Would you buy it again?

We love our Grech! Very happy with our purchase. It is a great van for boondocking as it doesn’t require shore power. Works perfect! We prefer a driveway or Harvest Host to a campground for one or two nights. I’ll try to answer your questions … if I miss something, please reach out again! I’m not sure about the AC off batteries as Wade hates the loud air conditioner. We can run the fan all night with a window open no problem. We have run the AC set at 80 degrees at night and it did fine just loud. FYI the new grech’s have a quieter AC. That all being said, I would have no worries running the AC set at a reasonable temperature all night. I don’t know but I think it would take a long time for solar to recharge the batteries. Actually not sure that they can recharge the batteries fully. We typically boondock and then drive the next day which easily charges the batteries fully within a few hours. I wish they had a quieter AC sooner. Also wish the microwave was higher and that the batteries didn’t take up so much room in the garage area. Yes we would buy it again. @TonyKoji Ours has a carpet pad on top. The bottom is bare metal. It came with a large “carpet” sticker that we adhered to the upper side of the shelf. It’s been great!

Hi there, congrats on your new Turismo! we just purchased our Turismo as well and wanted to ask a few questions. Noticed you had a rear ladder? can we ask where you purchased? we’ve reached out to Grech a couple of times as our rear drivers side windows don’t see to close all the way, they appear to stick out about 1/8” more than the larger window right in front of it. also curious to know if you have any noises in the rear of the coach? is yours super quiet in the rear lounge area when driving? thank you so much!!

Rear window - just checked ours and found ours is the same as yours. Not sure if it’s an issue or not. 3. Noise … yes we have a crackling/popping and we have been trying to sleuth location/cause and think our issue is the kitchen cabinet rubbing against the ottoman. Will eventually have that looked at. Keep us posted with your issues and upgrades. By the way, there is a very useful Facebook group, Grech rv owners, that you should join if you haven’t already. Great resource and fun group of folks.

That’s really nice, but really tight. I’ve seen sprinter vans built out by other companies that give you more room and everything is easily accessible. It’s like playing Tetris moving around to get to things. You have to be super model thin to move around comfortably. 🥺

Yep, it can definitely get tight with a couple people (or more) but we’re getting better at navigating through and around each other as we travel. As many others have said, everything in #vanlife is a compromise (space vs amenities vs storage vs utility, etc). Grech, like Airstream and a few others, really went for the luxury / private jet look and feel and it’s what attracted us to this model. But we strongly considered other, sometimes larger, units before deciding on our Turismo. So far, we’re loving it. Thanks for reaching out! (And 100% agree that it can be like playing Tetris at times!)

Before the Turismo, we put a deposit down on the slightly larger Grech Terreno but in the end decided that the 19’ form factor was what mattered most to us so we could easily park wherever we wanted to go. We used to have a 19’ Airstream Interstate before and also looked very closely at the Midwest Passage (another 19’ van with lots of great features). There are some really great B Van options out there!

Is the 4x4 drive always active or does it have to be engaged? If so, how is it enabled?

The 4x4 can be engaged when needed and you can use 2-wheel drive the rest of the time to improve fuel economy. To engage 4-wheel drive you must have the vehicle in park, then you take your foot off the brake and begin to roll forward, press the 4x4 button, switch to neutral than back to drive and you should be set (it sounds kind of complicated but isn’t that hard once you get used to it). We like having the option to use 4-wheel drive if we need it but are almost always in 2-wheel drive mode in order to get better miles per gallon. Hope that helps, and thanks for watching!

I’ve heard pros and cons of both but don’t really have an opinion. I like having the option to use 4-wheel drive in icy conditions if I need it. If the all wheel drive provides the same traction then I’d be fine with it but I’d want the fuel economy to be good if it’s on all the time. I don’t know enough about it to have a very solid opinion. Guess we’ll learn more as they start rolling out those models.

@@howwevan Again, thank you so much, I just subscribed. I've got my eye on the 2023 Grech RV Terreno-Ion Tour 4x4, I wouldn't use it so much for camping but more of a glorified "soccer mom car". The best price I've seen so far is $223,000, but I would really like to get it under 200k. Also, I would probably have to get some of the mods that you all have like the ladder and extra tire. We can answer those! Ion is Grech’s name for all electric house (no propane/big batteries). Strata is Grech’s 24 ft camper van and Terrano is Grech’s 22 ft camper van. Literally the Strata has a 12-16in “trunk”/“garage” behind the couch and the Terrano doesn’t have that. Otherwise the same. Thanks for watching!

There are several different models (2x4 vs 4x4, Ion vs propane generator version, and even different lengths, up to 24’ long). Our 19’ Turismo Ion 4x4 had an MSRP of around $228,000 but we were able to negotiate some with the dealer. That will depend on their inventory, demand, and other factors. I’ve heard that people often negotiate 10% to 20% off MSRP on certain models.
