The Spaniards in the Philippines may have reached as much as 2% of the population during the Spanish period. Definitely no more than that unlike in the Americas. It’s compared to the British presence in Singapore and Hong Kong, or the Portuguese in Macao. By 6 generations or 120 years, it would have been diluted throughout the population. So instead of 2% of the population being mestizo or Spanish, the average Filipino will have around 1-2% Iberian DNA. Many will have none at all. Just because you have none does not mean there wasn’t a Spanish or whatever ancestor. It’s possible through generations, you just didn’t inherit any. As you go back in time, you have more ancestors but you inherit a smaller percentage of each - and randomly maybe none from a particular ancestor after 5 generations.

0.04% European may not seem much but look at it this way, for every 1000 grandparents you have, you have about 40 European grandparents. In 9 generations, considering your parents as the first generation above you, you have 1024 grandparents. A generation is more or less calculated as 25 years (people marry older now, but had children younger before). So 9 generations would be roughly 225 years. Of course in the case of the Philippines Spanish presence started before that and so did interracial mixing. From the time of the Spanish expedition to the Spanish American war the Philippines had about 333 years of Spanish presence. That is a span of roughly 13.3 generation, we will call it 13. In that period you had an average of 16,384 ( taking 25 years as a generation. That means you probably have about 655 European grandparents, that may not seem much but without any of those grandparents you wouldn’t exist. Just as you wouldn’t hVe without your Asian side.
