i spent a month there this past april and yes the people are great and most speak very good English not like Miami fl about 30 minutes from my house very modern lots of malls and places to eat that was my 2 nd time there Richard in the tropics

Amen to that!! Lots of people have sacrificed for their loved ones I was born there and lived there until I was 5 and moved here and respect and independence is something that lots of kids my age abuse and don't understand but because I'm Filipino I treasure that :)

have great places to visit in the Philippines and I traveled a lot and enjoy with pleasant experience...also I live and grow up here in Manila and I like the place it is very safe. Only people think negatively and you know the outcome....

filipinos are really nice to other people and they are nice to the foreigners i have a friend that is from saudi arabia she speak filipino even she lives in saudi arabia i saw a foreigner child in the TV speaks filipino since he lived here if you are long lasting here in philippines you will have some fun here like IT"S MORE FUN IN THE PHILIPPINES even we have a small country but big in responsibilities and other good manners

I've been living in Manila for about 4 months now & my impression before I come here is totally different compared to now. I like this country very much. Its all because of PEOPLE. Everyone that I'm meeting every day here is nice, polite & respectful. Many nice places in Metro Manila; there are poor ppl here but before you judge them..U should be at their shoes first. Who want to be poor in this world? Help them if U can don't condemn them. More fun in the Philippines. Anyway I'm from Malaysia!

It's dangerous anywhere in the world. I live in Manila and had a pretty 'guarded' childhood wherein we were not allowed to leave without an adult so I had this crazy idea that the outside world must be so dangerous but when I went off to college, I went to a big university in downtown Manila and got to explore a lot. I've been out and about for 6 years & nothing's happened. I wear a gold but know when to be vigilant and careful. The world can be so amazing if you let it be.

it depends on the place and in the people in that place...I live here in Manila yes there is some part of Manila that is not okay but Life is here in Manila...there is negative and positive sides you have to for both...

Go to Davao City. Davao City is a beautiful place. It may not have super tall towers, It may not be that of a very big city but I assure you, It's safe. The city's mayor cares about safety. :)

I read some of the comments and some of them were amusing, However, the phrase "short time" in this country means to spend a few hours - 3 hours, conventionally - in a motel to "do it". :-) This is in reference to your About description.

Yes your right Hasib,Using Travelsewhere is cheaper for hotels. I was booking with Agoda before but I see now Travelsewhere is better. But for the cheapest flights there's only one website for that.and that is Skyscanner.

the very best season to visit myManila is December, January, February and March. if you extent to summer season GREAT for April and May going to beaches and fests. Good luck and visits for tourists coming to us. Make sure have good Filipino friends not bad. Being a bad nationality is universal anyway haha so be careful everywhere on earth haha

thats bit ironic, i agree manila is not safe but its depends on what place you go to. same like anywhere in the world you find trouble if you looking for it or invitig it to happen to you... is that make sense. philippines have a lot of countryside that you can relax and find tranquillity.

Our streets might be dirty, but our beaches are the best in Asia, and we speak way better English than our neighbors and we treat foreigners like royalty, and that's why tourists are drawn to the Philippines, in my opinion.

Im from Mindanao, and i agree it isnt place safe to look expensive,but its great place. When I went home, I couldnt wear any jewellery coz I was scared it would get taken off me

really, it enjoying to walk around we dont usually saw or do in our upscale lifestyles. in my case, i would usually sigh wow this or that exist and people do different ways and things we do. we can open our minds and eyes to situations we dont see or experience in our lifestyles it's a great experience and i know you will have an open your heart and mind in an unbalanced world. I love going to old and decrepit places to but careful. that could have been great pictures if you have the camera

If you're going in vacation in the Philippines don't go in Manila it's a very noisy place if you want a beautiful and quiet place go to a province!

It really does depend on where you are. I almost agree with you but I disagree with "it would be considerably stupid to walk around Mindanao (im not trying to insult them) with a luxurious look" Let's dissect that thought a bit, Mindanao is HUGE and generally the dangerous parts are in the southwestern provinces, GENERALLY but not completely. In Davao city for example, I find it safer than Manila, there's a more peaceful atmosphere for me, though I must say I never had safety issues in Manila...

sanitation ? just like in other countries, some places have some sanitation problems. =) it's the truth, i'm a filipino and i admit that. but in the brighter side, there are a lot of places in the philippines that are breathtaking. you should go on vacation there .:> but don't stay in manila too much. check out boracay, palawan, etc. ^,^

I like phillipines also, but honestly its much dirtier than Houston. You can smell it as you are coming into land on the airport. i have a gf their... people are nice (except for those in positions of authority) But in the big cities, it is very dirty
