Having recently seen a clip regarding their fatal crash, it was nice to come across this to see how lovely a couple they were & all about the plane, bless them, thanks for keeping this posted, important to show lovely memories

the transponder check is usually done on the ground without removing it.. but it can go on the bench also.

"Just found out". All this should be in the logs along with pitot-static test, and ELT. I would not assume that an intermitant xmt problem was necessarily the problem of a solid state radio... I would want to be sure of my antenna, push to talk switch, and the wiring to the tray. None of which can be checked remotely.

Thanks captain! Turns out it was bad capacitors in the radio. All is fixed and we are good to go with transmitting. We are swapping out the Txpdr for a new yellow tagged unit and the tech will be doing the 24 month for us at the same time.

so this was the airplane they rented previous to the newer 140 , which looked in need of some TLC. Or perhaps an engine upgrade? or did it already have a stronger engine, any ideas?
