Me again, got tired of watching the Olympics , from France and just happened to land on your channel. Love a relaxing flight even as a passenger. Thanks for the trip; makes me want an aircraft like that.

as someone who has always thought about aviation, accident's like these really make me reconsider getting in a cock pit. Tim seemed like a much smarter/capable person than me. He made one or two mistakes regarding spacial disorientation from flying at night and then boom his life is over. If someone as meticulous and calculated as Tim didn't make it, what chance do I have?

This is an awesome video. Really enjoyed it. I've always wondered how you see around the nose on one of those, especially the ones with the original engine and massive radiator right in the line of sight.

Music instead of engine sound at takeoff. Very disappointing. I wanted to hear what the noise level was like at takeoff power.

It certainly does to me. It's what aircraft like that were designed for. Is that Cleveland brakes on a Piet? Sheer luxury.

A rose by any other name or so the saying goes. Is it really as much fun to fly as they appear to be? Have lunch and watch airplanes? If you can't fly that sounds like a pleasant pass time. Always making sure youhave somewhere to put her down in the event of an engine failure just like any good pilot should. Nice to see you keeping the skills sharp. For the age of the design I'm amazed at how little into turn rudder is needed in those steep turns. That's not even a proper stall break is it? It just travels downhill in a nose high attitude.

Is it just me or did he just drink and then fly in less than 8 hours?

FAA has published its Final Report on the crash in Jan. of 2023. It has classified it as crashing after take off due to pilot's spatial disorientation. Why would they took off half an hour after sunset in an airport where there is no urban lights to help them. The C140 went down just 1440 feet from the north end of the runway. In the video where they went to Amboy for the second fly in they were racing the Sun but lost and have to stay over at Yucca Valley. Where Tango and Juliet trying to do the same here? Edit: They were trying to fly from Sedona airport to Grand Canyon National Park Airport and got sidetracked by a faulty tachometer. They landed at Williams, Arizona to check it out but can't fix it. I think they thought they can make the last 48 miles to the Grand Canyon in the twilight. 2nd Edit: The report says that Timothy has a little over 10 hours of night flying time and have flown little in last three months. His total flying time is less than 500 hours and a third of it is in the C140. There are footages of the crash from the GoPro cameras on the airplane and from Joylani's camera. That's how NTSB comes to its conclusion.

I would have like to have seen the engine; know how it was installed, how much it cost, what were the issues, what were the performance benefits, why he chose a rolls royce vs another engine. What type of mission this plane is best.

That was fun to watch. I’ve only been in a Pietenpol once at Brodhead, Wisconsin. I was really nervous to go up, and all I can say to people is that it is like riding a motorcycle in the sky. It was a very memorable day, because my great grandpa, Orrin Hoopman, the man who drew the blue prints, was there. We had a family reunion at Brodhead to celebrate this family history. My great uncle was Don FINKE, who was one of the original pilots. Orrin Hoopman would fly 5 to 6 miles to see his girlfriend in the summer of 1931 to go on a date.

I fly a pietenpol. I’m not part of the piet building community. I’ve had some interactions with piet guys at Oshkosh. I’m not a builder. I just want to fly and the piet satisfies the itch without breaking the bank. The building community are salt of the earth types. They take themselves pretty serious.
