The bandage you had is called a PICO dressing. They're used after c-sections and other surgeries for negative pressure wound therapy. Basically it's a little vaccuum that promotes blood flow to the surgical incision and removes any drainage from the wound so the skin doesn't break down. We use them on our hip and knee surgery patients occasionally :) they're pretty freaking cool!

Yes, everyone was surprised that she didn’t need oxygen. They had her on it for less than 24 hours but she didn’t need it so they took the machine off👍🏻

I had both my kids with a c-section. They were not preemies tho. My son was 2 weeks overdue and almost 11lbs! This was 30 years ago. Things are a lot different. It’s nice ( I think) that you get to (have to?) stay in the hospital till the baby goes home. Not familiar with this tho. It’s great to be so close to her and not just have to visit every day. My daughter was also born 7 weeks early last October & was in the NICU for 19 days. I knew exactly how you felt going home without your baby 😭 I also thought it was so cool how they gave you a room to stay in & a camera for viewing while baby is in the NICU, I definitely would’ve loved that! Ugh that blood pressure meds are rough. I had preeclampsia and HELLP syndrome and had my baby at 35 weeks. I was on brocardia or however you spell it. But I needed it for a week or two and then I was okay without it. Sending love mama!

I had a C-section at 36+4 weeks. My water broke at 7am and baby girl was breech entire pregnancy! It’s interesting how every place is different. I didn’t get a bandage like that. I think I got a gauze placed over it and a nurse removed it 24hrs later.. I was also stitched up from inside (?) so only one tiny piece of thread showed at the end and they dissolved.

Oh my goodness! I literally cried with you through this video, I had twins in September and they had to stay in the nicu, that first time we came home empty handed was soooo sad and emotional, I tried to take a nap cause I was so tired and I could “hear” my babies crying (but there was no babies) it was so sad! They’re almost 6 months now and they only stayed in the nicu for 2.5 weeks but I know the feeling!

Oh those cameras in the NICU. The first room she was in the camera was broke for like a month. And then soo many nurses and doctors everytime they touched her they had to move it and never put it back. Was soo hard because I was off for 2 months but then I had to go back to work. I know the feeling having to leave and feeling guilt. So rough. Can't wait to see her more in the future videos!! My dad used to faint in public because of his medicine was horrible. Thank goodness they changed it.

Yes, thankfully one of the nurses taught us how to make sure the camera was back on every time we left the NICU! Aww that is definitely hard!! Omg that's not good! Pretty sure that would've been me if I had taken that much longer, but thankfully I'm not on it anymore! ;)

This reminds me of our first baby boy.. I had 8 miscarriages including our 2yr olds twin and the rest was a highrisk pregnancy so I had an emergency C section at 159am and he went straight to the NICU for a while.. it was. So hard and emotional not getting to hold him and see him on so many monitors and IV lines! He is so healthy and amazing and we have our 7month old baby boy too and it was a planned C section and we got to hold him first before he was taken to the NICU also!! It's so different starting life that way but it's so amazing being a family :)

My son was born premature. I had the same issue. I had pre-eclampsia but no symptoms. They found out cause of my high blood pressure but I felt fine. I was in the hospital until he was born. Which sucked cause I missed major holidays. He was in the NICU for almost 3 weeks. Was born 34 weeks and weighed 4lbs 10oz.

On my second birth I had toxemia. I was put on bed rest for a week. I had to avoid as much salt as possible. I lost a lot of weight but after a week I went to the hospital to be induced. That is what preeclampsia used to be called. I looked it up. 😘
