That’s great parenting right there. We often don’t realize that we great frustrated with the kids over things that we totally have control over, especially our own emotions. This is something I’m really working on. Josh and Carolynn are a great example to follow.

I think this is almost more of a good example of parenting than it is a video on chore management! His analysis of why there was tension in the relationship with his kids is such a beautiful thing!

@@KatrinaT Absolutely! I retain a lot in my head so I can totally relate. I definitely don’t have the patience that Josh has. 😆 But I feel like at times I expect too much of a 5 year old, so listening to Josh and Carolynn talk about the way they raise their kids really brings so much into perspective.

Wonderful video! My wife and I both have 9-5 jobs and are really interested in Homesteading. I can see how a system like this keeps all boxes checked and chores organized. May God continue to bless you all. 🙏

This management system approach, especially for those unfamiliar with your farm and goals for the farm, seems to be very helpful. I'm thinking of using it in my public high school classroom. Thank you.

This is so helpful. I am running things mainly solo over here trying to keep up with everything makes me feel like I'm drowning every single day. Lists have always been so important to me personally, so it makes sense that my kids would benefit hearing too. I don't know why i haven't thought of this before except sometimes you get so far into the weeds it's hard to pull back and see the big picture.

I have a small white board on the side of my fridge, nest to my primary work station counter top. It has my daily, weekly, monthly tasks... shopping list and reminders. As soon as any container gets used up it goes on the shopping inventory list. Once a month we assess animals for parasites, and trim feet (dogs and goats).

So relatable. We often are verbally telling or expecting things and it's frustrating on both sides.

When we moved into our house there was a huge chalkboard in the garage. Through the years I have used it to make my chore lists. From time to time I would draw something fun just to lighten the load! I recently chalkboard painted my milk house door on the inside . So useful for for my animal husbandry.

Thank you for being vulnerable and sharing where you struggled. This is a wonderful idea! My one suggestion would be for the weekly tasks. I could see things getting missed or it being difficult to remember the last time a weekly task was done. If you designated Weekly tasks to specific days, the kids could look at that and know what exactly needed to be done that day. For example Mondays - Feed Minerals and clean waterers Tuesdays - Add Shavings to Stalls and organize barn tools .

Begs the question 🙋‍♂️ how do you know if the job has been Done ✅ on the board??? Move the smile 😃 face magnet?? Maybe tape grid lines and a box to be checked ☑️ after each task… erase and change the date 📆 each morning?

I'm sorry, but, I can barely stand all of the camera angle changes in your videos anymore! I don't know who taught you to do that. I feel like you're not even talking to the subscribers anymore, but rather I'm looking at the side of your head or the camera is bouncing here, there, and everywhere to where I can't even focus on the content. I feel disconnected, distant and like I'd rather be doing something else than watching a video that makes me feel dizzy from too much bouncing around. I want to look into your eyes while you speak and not the side of your head. I don't need different angles for you to keep things interesting, your CONTENT speaks for itself. However, the more you keep doing it the further I drift from watching your videos, unfortunately. But, I really like you guys and I want to watch! It's just a shame to buy into today's fancy, yet withdrawing, camera tricks. I hope you stop using that feature and stick to your content while allowing the old school tradition of looking people in the eye hold more ground.
