In this room tour I wanted to share some of our MOST valuable tips for staying in a standard room. If this is your first visit to Shades of Green you may not know what to expect. Hopefully after watching this tour you'll have a better idea of what your stay will look like after you check in. There are several questions we get over and over again so I wanted to highlight some of those and give your our best tips to make your stay the most magical it can possibly be. Thank you so much! We have talked about moving there. But we have a great interest rate here at our SC home that we will likely never see again if we sell LOL Maybe one day though...until then, we don't mind the 6 hour drive :) Its really not too bad.

Great video! Thank you for letting us know about the coffee! We will be there in a few weeks and going to put them to the test lol. Were you guys there at all during March? My wife and I were there the second week of March and they were replacing the carpets with vinyl tiles by the elevators.

You're always welcome! We were not there in March this year. Our first trip this year was in April. But good observation! Personally, I'm happy to see carpet go. It does make things a bit louder without it but it just feels cleaner with tile :)

I love your videos. We are planning our first trip to Shades and Disney, so these videos have been so helpful! Your comment about requesting the box fan just saved me luggage space. 😂 Do you know if we can put that as a request prior to check in, or if they are first come first serve?

Thank you so much! I love hearing that the videos are helpful! For the box fan I would definitely put it in your request (the little 'additional notes' section on your reservation). It can't hurt! I do think they are first come first serve though so its not a guarantee. Best case scenario- they'll see your request and you'll have one in your room when you get there. Worst case scenario - they'll run out of them BUT you could always buy one on Amazon and have it delivered to the resort. I saw some for about $30 so budget for one just in case. If you don't need to buy it then you'll just have extra cash for Disney treats :)

We are stationed at Fort Drum NY and we are planning our fist trip to Disney the first week of 2025 ( I tried finding a room in December but it seems like they are all sold out 😔 we wanted to be in Disney during Christmas time 😢). Welcome! Thank you so much for the kind words! We love making the videos and love hearing when they help even more! Christmas time is the MOST magical time to go to Disney. In fact, I would say my favorite week to go in December is the first week. It will be crowded, I don't want to mislead you, BUT it will be much easier than the week before and during Christmas. My biggest advice though is to KEEP checking the website for rooms. People always cancel. The cancellation policy is flexible as you have up until 5 days prior to check in to cancel, penalty free. We have booked several trips last minute because of this. Make it a habit to just get on the SOG website and check for rooms. Book whats available and then add on a night or two to the front or back end as they open up. You can always combine your reservations into one before you check in. If you decide to go in January you'll still get some Christmas spirit so don't worry there either :) You should know that Dec 31st- January 1 will be busy as well. But on the bright side, the weather should be wonderful! At least, compared to the high 90s that we have right now lol

Thank you so much for responding back 🥰 I’ll be definitely be checking the SOG website constantly to see if there’s any last minute cancellations. We still planning for that first week of January from the 1st to the 6th ( I called last week and made the reservation in SOG). For the parks tickets and reservation, the lady told us to wait until October ( when the new physical year begins). She recommended us to wait until then to get the salute promotional tickets instead of the magic your way ones. I don’t know how I feel about waiting until October tho 😬😬 I’m a bit scared that they might be sold out or something. Either way, I’m going to keep watching all of your videos 😊 they have helped me a lot to understand how everything works 😅😅. Thanks again for everything that you do 🙏🏽🙏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽🎉🎉

Your videos are great. How many months should you book in advance?

Thank you for saying that! You can book up to 365 days out...but we have booked a week out before and got really lucky. It just depends how flexible you are. A lot of times it might look to be sold out online but you can call and check too and there may be availability. It just doesn't update on the website as fast. I always tell people to book when they think they are coming and adjust it later. If you need to add a few days to the front or back end of your trip you can do that and then combine your reservations into one (as long as its the same type of room, i.e. standard room, junior suite, family suite...) You also have up until 5 days prior to check in to cancel. So they are really flexible as long as you are too :)

Thanks for all your reviews, it really has made it easy to pick shades of green. Quick question, do you need to make reservation at the restaurants like Mangino's or can you just do it the day of if you don't know your plans ahead of time. We will be there late September early October. thank you.

You're welcome! Thank you for watching! As far as the restaurants at Shades of Green go you do not need to make any reservations at all. They are walk up only and we have never had to wait long for a table at all. In fact we almost always just walk in and get seated right away. I wouldn't worry at all :) Enjoy your time at Shades!

Traveling with my Father who has mobility issues. Where do you recommend we request to be close to food options and the car? He doesn’t swim so the rest of us can walk to the pool no concerns.

The dining locations are centrally located between both wings for the most part but Evergreens (the sports bar) is by the pool which is over on the Magnolia side. However, to be closer to the car you would want to be on the Palm side. I would say, for your father, stick to the Palm side. :)

Correct. Anyone eligible to stay at Shades of Green would not pay taxes.
