Is this something new? When we were at SOG in December of 2022, we were told that the Minnie Van would not pick up guests at SOG or at the Swan/Dolphin as well. It never made sense to me that the van wasn't available since SOG sits on Disney land, but if it's now available, that's great!

Appreciate the video, but as a vet without base access, it looks like I can only get these tickets by flying to Orlando and going to SOG--which of course will be too late to make a park reservation. I know you don't make the rules. I'm just tired of empty gestures to vets. Do better, Disney and MWR. 😠

@@DCDragonfly you can order these through Shades of Greens website! Go to ‘tickets’ and download the order form. List the tickets you want, how many, print it and sign, then scan and upload the form. Email it to them and they will call you for payment. Once it’s paid they will email you digital tickets! It’s a process (like anything with the military) but it’s possible for you 🥳

The form asks me to certify that "you are currently Active Duty, a Retired member of the United States Armed Forces, Department of Defense Civilian employee, the current spouse of an Active Duty, Retired, or Reservist in Active status, have a VHIC identification card." None of those apply to me. All I have is a DD214.

We LOVED Minnie Van. It was great for MK because of how close it gets you. Amazing for leaving too. We were so tired and I ordered one on Main Street and it pulled up as we got to the bus stop. It was amazing. Definitely more pricey than a typical Lyft, but worth it for a MK day for us. We had great drivers, and one did Disney trivia with us. It made it a lot of fun. We used SOG buses for all other parks. But my husband, who’s a saver, didn’t hesitate to say Minnie Van when I asked what he wanted to do for our MK Day 2. It will now be budgeted in to all our SOG stays. Crystal Palace for those waffles is on our list for the next trip!

The Minnie Van is one of the reasons we stay at SOG. The extra money saved from staying there gets used on better transportation since the walkway to the Poly is now closed.

We took the Minnie van in November when we switched resorts and it was an amazing experience. The driver was so nice and it made our switch easy since we had a scooter to transfer as well.

My fiancé and I got back from our Disney vaca/first Shades trip last week and now we’ll never stay anywhere else. Shades of Green is so amazing, I miss it already 😭♥️

I have always considered booking the Crystal Palace! How would you rate it out of the other character dining you have done? Unrelated, my husband had his DAS call this morning for our upcoming trip to Disneyland. It was way faster than the projected wait time, the cast member was very nice, and he didn’t make my husband go uncomfortably into detail about his issues (which he was very grateful for). He was done and approved in less than 5 minutes on the actual call. Just wanted to share a positive story from the new requirements.

Great video! I love your dress. Great advice on which part of the park to start. I definitely think we need to do Dinoland this summer since they will be changing it soon. I also love the taking of the “set off” items pre going through security. I think I am going to make sure to do the same. That was probably the most time consuming part of getting into the parks for us.

Yes, make sure you soak up your dinos this summer bc we don’t know when the will go extinct 😉 And I know a lot of people complain about folding up strollers to navigate transportation etc BUT I still feel like it’s worth it to have to assort your park items and store things. It’s so easy to just throw things in that handle pouch or on the bottom rather than taking things out of a backpack to carry through in your hands. It can be a pain…we are always trying to be more efficient in that area.

We actually still had it on Tim’s account from the visit prior so we were “grandfathered in” this trip. The next one we will have to go through the new process 😖

@@battlegroundbiscuits it’s horrible.. my husband and I both have PTSD. He shares the same thoughts as Tim and mine is from other experiences.. they were pretty indifferent and seemed like they didn’t care. Only Autism mattered🤷🏻♀️

Off topic-Ashley, do you use any root lift product on your hair? Your hair always looks so good, even in the heat and humidity! When my boys were younger and reached 40 inches, it was always like riding a ride for the first time watching them ride for the first time. So magical.

You’re too kind…my hair is naturally super straight so I don’t have to worry about frizz but I do have to combat flat hair 🥴 I use dry shampoo on my roots even when it’s clean bc it helps in the humidity. I should really buy stock in dry shampoo lol

Yessss!!! Say it louder so he can hear you!! 😂 He gets really weird about holding a camera at Disney…I’m always trying to hand it off to him but he feels awkward walking around talking to a camera. I do too sometimes but I think I’ve adjusted to it more. He always says things off camera and I’m like come on! That’s the stuff that needs to be in the video 😂 He’s just worried about saying something dumb. Thank for your comment! I’ll make sure he sees it 😉

Personally, I wouldn’t go to a water park around Christmas because there is SO much to do at the parks that’s exclusive to the holidays that I wouldn’t want to miss out on that. BUT if you’re someone that LOVES water parks or you have kids that are begging to swim for Christmas I wouldn’t say no 😂 The temps will most likely be fine for swimming still. It’s really up to you on how much you want to be there. But for me, I love being in the theme parks more at that time of year.

Animal kingdom take a lot of heat from people but honestly is my favorite park right after Magic kingdom. The vibe is the best here and it can be as short or long of a day as you want it to be without feeling like you’re rushed or missing out 🥰

I’m glad you’re enjoying the videos 🥰 December is one of my favorite times to be there, not only for the holiday goodies but also bc the temps start to back off 😂 The days are tolerable in the sun and people seem generally more cheerful. My favorite weeks to go are the first and second week of December. It’s right in between the thanksgiving surge and the Christmas break madness. However, if you want to see the exclusive party parade and snow on main street without buying the additional party tickets you can plan for the week of Christmas. Crowds will definitely be higher but you’ll get those experiences during the normal hours.

How does the meal plan work if we decide to purchase that? Im guessing they don’t honor the meal plan at SOG? Do we have to purchase magic bands separately since shades of green doesn’t provide these upon booking? Thanks!

You’re correct…The Disney dining plan isn’t offered through Shades of Green bc the resort is owned by the DoD. That being said, they don’t accept the plan either if you stay at a Disney resort and stop by shades to eat at the restaurants. Magic bands can be purchased online or you can wait until you arrive in Orlando for a bigger selection in the parks or at Disney Springs. There’s really no major advantage to having them early besides being able to set them up in advance. That can be done when you get there 😁 Also, just want to note that the Magic bands do not work at Shades of Green for the reasons mentioned above. You can still use them in the parks, just not at Shades 😊

I pack less stuff and spend part of my resort day doing laundry. I take a book and sit in a one of the lounge areas in the corridor and read while waiting for the laundry. Set an alarm or countdown timer on your phone, so you don't monopolize one of the limited washers. The hotel has machines with detergent, but they may not have a brand you can use. So bring detergent sheets in a zip baggie. They do not weigh anything, you can use only the amount you need for your load size, they do not have dyes and they can be unscented. It is a relaxing day and you can accomplish something. As a bonus, your bags are not so heavy that you need assistance to get them to your room or around the airport.
