I also failed initially when setting up my service oriented business. And I’ve been following Chinkie Chan and he said something that really made me realize things about business. He said that experiences is not the best teacher. Other’s experience is the best teacher. That is why research, study and in depth learning is very important. :) God bless you guys.

New subscriber🥰 Your story is raw and real. My husband and I had a business which was painful to let go as it was affected by the pandemic. It was so hard to talk about it at home as it’s a mood changer but hearing your stories made me realized that it’s the things we learned; from putting it up from every single detail (including brand name and logo), business registration, business planning, purchasing, accounting, sales and marketing, and we shouldn’t blame each other for its closure but take the experience as valuable life lessons 😉

I watched ur podcast just in time. Few months ago my boy friend and I started a small business but eventuallyhad to stop it because we also have our work we had to focus on since it was struggling. It was doing well enough for a beginner I guess 'cause we were receiving repeat orders. But now that we already have the focus, motivation, and organization we need to be able to multitask (work plus business), both of us plan to restart our business. Your podcast is a big help for us. I just realized what are the things that went wrong and the things that could have done better. You just gave us additional motivation. That's why I love your partnership. You are, indeed, a Relationship Goal ♥️ P.S. I use my boy friend's KZbin account 😁

Frist time to watch you guys, and the episode is so appropriate to my current situation! I had a failed carwash/detailing business 4 years ago. We were 4 partners, my then-BF and his 2 barkadas (a husband and wife). 1st mistake was: That time, I was working a highly demanding corporate job and 2nd) I wasn’t really into cars, while my 2 other partners were very into cars and had more flexible schedules. Needless to say, I lost interest in the business after about a year into it, and to make up for the guilt of not being able to be present during meetings all the time, I was volunteering to “abono” money for maintenance of the shop, expansions, etc. 😭 HUUUGE mistake cos I ended up bleeding more money and ended up resenting my partners a little. 3rd mistake was I wasn’t really that comfortable with my other partners. My 4th mistake was that it was my 1st biz venture and my main motivation for getting into it was WRONG - I just wanted to call myself a “slash-entrepreneur” (as in marketing-person-slash-entrepreneur). When my 3 partners decided to expand the biz after just 1 year by opening up a new branch in a city that was like 3 hours away from all of us, I didn’t feel it was right. But I decided to keep quiet cos I wasn't comfortable speaking my mind and felt maybe they know better than me since they’re more engaged in our business. Long story short, the new branch location was so far that none of us really had the motivation or the bandwidth to go there to supervise on the regular. One of our employees ended up crashing a customer's car to the car wash wall, and we had to pay the owner of the vehicle out of pocket (apart from all the other money we’d already put up for the 2 branches). Sobrang sakit sa puso talaga 😭 My then-BF and I decided to opt out of it a year after that incident. We haven’t gotten any of our money back. But like you, nag-usap din kami that time na ito na lang yung tuition natin for our “real life MBA.” Now, we’re living in an island and are planning to put up a small coffee shop. My hesitation/fear gets the better of me most of the time kasi medyo traumatized ako sa 1st business failure ko. It's not so much the money but the fact that I failed in something that hurts the most. But I’ve decided also to choose growth over comfort. Thanks for making this episode! Wala masyadong tao na madali aaminin that they failed at a business. But reminding us na it's about what lessons you got from it really helped me get my head on straight again.

Hindi po talaga maiiwasan ang failures kasi kahit yung negosyo ko ngayon nahihirapan din due to Covid-19 situations. Pero pagnag-lolosses at hindi na talaga kaya. Stop the business na. Basta ang pinakamagandang type of business ngayon ay SERVICE BUSINESS kasi yun yong pinakaimportante ngayon para mabuhay ang mga tao. Sana makahanap kayo ng negosyo na maglalast po. God bless your journey in having a business. Hope your business will grow soon.

I happen to stumble upon this video and I concur. One thing that I wanna share here is that you should never take risks that could wreck you. What I mean by "wreck" is the situation that would prevent you from taking another risk once again. Businesses/investments fail and if that happens you have to be able to bounce back and start over again. An example would be, investing money that you don't have (uutang ka to invest) or uutang ka with your home as collateral. The worst outcome is you double your losses (plus interest) or become homeless and that situation would prevent you from bouncing back at least sooner. Also, learn the basics of financial literacy like what the heck does compounding mean. Cheers!

Yes it's TRUE. I open up so many businesses like Franchise of 20yrs ago Jun E salon, 22yrs ago fish cages in Laguna, computer shops 20, 28yrs ago buy and sell artificial plants and pots, 15yrs ago landscaping and lastly nag open ako it's a Korean restaurant year 2018 after 2yrs and 4mos nag sara na then after 2weeks nag lockdown. Lahat nag failed. Siguro sobrang trust sa tao, nag wo-work ako as sales and purchaser mga sa isang company. Lahat hindi natutukan. So now rest na lang, mag relax at manahimik na lang and enjoy what I have. Anyways ang husband ko ang okay sa business namana niya from his parents kase naisabak na siya bata pa lang. Like Megan para pang office at bilang sales mktg ako as manager ng isang company. Pero ung mag sarili ako ng negosyo hindi ko kayang imarket hahahaaaa... 😪💔
