Nice job! We have a beast of a sewing machine that we have all sorts of 'conversations' with, but in the end there's nothing like a comfy cockpit from which to enjoy Sangria and Sunsets!

Top tip, make the piping up before you trying to use it, second one is if your cushion is flat use a steam iron on max steam setting, pump the steam into the foam and it will bring it back to the correct size.

My pop is a fashion designer who started out in the trade as a pattern maker back in the 60's. I showed him the video and he smiled. He said tell your friend he did a good job but he needs a new machine. HAHA

Well done Nick! Sailors and farmers have a lot in common. When they want something done, they usually try to figure it out for themselves. Looks like a old pro did it to me so don't worry about any imperfections you know about. I thoroughly enjoy these vids by the way. Marina life is fine with me as long as you keep the vids coming.

Its always a question of should we get someone else to do it or should we do it ourselves. When we take on projects that push us, and they turn out, it does feel amazing. I hope you enjoyed a cool beer on the new cushions. Because you earned it. I always enjoy the playful banter and odd tackle. The joy of life. Stay safe, enjoy the moment, and thanks Cheers

My wife does all of the sewing. I have no patience for that stuff at all. Nick is my hero. Those sailrite videos are great though. I'm currently making headliner panels to attach with velcro to the bottom side of the deck. The sailrite video makes it look easy.

I actually look forward to these two! Don't get me wrong, I still watch Delos and will until they stop. Stopped watching Vagabond after they got the Cat...? Not sure why and it puzzles me.
@robertskinner17997 жыл бұрын
Go back and watch the first five or six episodes of Vagabond, it will be pretty clear why you stopped watching. At first it was clear they loved what they were doing, it was raw and spontaneous. Now it's a job for them and the episodes are now much shorter and shallow. They seem now to focus on production and less on content. If they would spend more time on their experience with the boat, their trials and tribulations and make their videos less like travelogues I would continue to support them. I love this channel and sailing Ran. More authentic and gritty.

Terysa - May I say that I admire you (and sympathize with you) in a huge way? Here’s my reasoning: The rest of us get to enjoy Nick’s good-natured grumpiness once a week for about 12 to 14 minutes ... but you, my poor dear, have to endure that 16 to 17 waking hours a day! But I have noticed that at times you have your escape route planned out well in advance. Smart lady!

Love the episode. I just moved aboard my Downeaster 38 and am/was on the precipice of biting the bullet and purchasing the Sailrite sewing machine. I have myriad sewing projects and only a basic Brother sewing machine. HOWEVER..... I just learned from my girlfriend that "walking foot" attachments are available for my machine (and most other brands). (She isn't a seamstress but peruses the web lots.) The walking foot is the biggest reason the Sailrite machine can handle thick, multi layer jobs. It's a $15 attachment. I have one on order so technically haven't used it yet. BUT... I've see many walking foot attachment videos on KZbin demonstrating multi-layer projects so I know it works!!

You know of course you can get a Chinese Sailrite machine for about £300 on ebay. I got one and and compared it to my friends 'Original' machine... everything was identical (even the box fits) all the mouldings, internals, everything. The big difference is the setup, when you get it from the factory Sailrite get all the timing spot-on, which is not really true on the Chinese version... But to be fair, after a month using the machines the timing drifts anyway and needs setting up. Nicely done on the cushions, piping does a nice job :)
