Even if Canada beat Argentina I have a strong feeling the naysayers would not give Canada credit. I’m hoping Canada can score and they can limit Argentina to 3 or less. Just hoping for Canada to make it a competitive challenging game. I can’t imagine CONMEBAL wants Canada to advance. No Argentina would be a huge loss of revenue. I expect Argentina to win, but that said, I expect Canada to put a better performance. They are no longer fazed by the occasion and by the fact they are playing the world champions and best team in the word. They know what to expect. On top of that, Argentina have shown to be vulnerable (you can be sure Jesse is studying that Ecuador game). Canada are unlikely to go through, but man, as a Canadian I need to believe they can, because THEY believe they can. Already super proud of this group, playing with house money and nothing to lose. Regarding the 17 Canadian fans: No one rushes into an environment where you will be outnumbered, out shouted, and outplayed, paying tickets, hotel and travel. Argentinian fans are paying for a near-gauranteed chance for euphoria. This is why Canadians are ride or die for hockey. Canadians are SO proud and SO hopeful for this team, but based on recency bias where the federation itself was working against the players, fan support is hesitant at best. If and when CANMNT can establish consistency, the fed gets its shit together, the Canadian fans will show. I admire how the Canadian players are using the AWAY status to their advantage. Fighting clearly corrupt refs, and a tournament with South American hubris, Canada stands proud. what is impressive about Canada is they ability to get into the final 3rd of ANY opponent and create chances for themselves (their ability to finish those chances is something else of course). We saw have seen them do this against Belgium, Croatia, Morocco, Netherlands, France, and Argentina. If this team is able to figure out things in front of goal, then oh man, the world needs to watch out because they could run rampant on teams. At the end of the day, you just know Canada is going to come out of this a lot stronger. CONCACAF away crowds will be nothing for this group now compared to what they have had to experience throughout this Copa.

And tbh, aside from the Netherlands and Argentina games, they've also defended well recently and are reducing their mistakes. Bombito & Cornelius are an excellent CB duo aerially and are very fast/athletic. Bombito is just very raw with his decision-making for a CB at this level. They definitely have a puncher's chance against Argentina - especially if they can find an early goal like they did against Venezuela.

About Canadian Supporters: We didn't know we were even going until March this year because we had to play in a final qualifier after getting upset by Jamaica in Nations League. We're also a tenth of the population of the USA, so you're more likely to find a group of Venezuelan-Americans in addition to anyone willing to travel. And for Canadians in the USA, hockey is king here by a significant margin. We didnt have a domestic league until 6 years ago with our only professional teams playing in the US. Events like this, and stories like Schaff's are finally starting to get eyes on this team. Even the World Cup didnt really grab attention because it went exactly how everyone thought it would go because Soccer in Canada is the butt of the joke, its what kids play before they move onto "better" sports. Not helped by the fact that our FA is a joke. I know bad FAs are rampant but when people already dont like your sport, a story breaking talking about how the FA is worried about the "cost" of sending our women's team to defend their Olympic Gold Medal really hurts your already non-existent reputation. Our coach is sponsored by the Canadian MLS teams for context of how inconceivably broke the FA is. His official title is something like "National Team Head Coach and Manager in Charge of Development presented by MLS Canada" But all this also means that most immigrants or their children (first or second generation) were raised cheering for their homeland and not for Canada and I dont blame them, we were bad forever. Our best and worst FIFA rankings are 8 years apart in the last 20 years.

Canada needs to finish better, but not just for the obvious reason. Teams have been pressuring the ball against Canada because: a. they turn the ball over very cheaply, and b. if they do break the press and create chances in transition, they are unlikely to finish. So by demonstrating they can put the ball in the back of the net they will force opponents to respect Canada's possession and pressure less.

Uruguay V Colombia is a flip of a coin but if i had to choose I’m going with Uruguay, they are by far the most physical team in the entire tournament who can tactically frustrate the opposing team easily, which I feel Colombia hasn’t gone against. They have a solid defense that Brazil struggled to breakthrough and a midfield that always can get the ball to Darwin, having Valverde there is also a huge plus.

Usually Colombia derails at the end but Colombia is playing very well without the ball, has a lot of energy, good defense and an inspired James and I am not a fan of him. That said, Argentina starts bad in tournaments or tends to look bad and then sjow up at the end. The final battles will be fun, so far very good copa america.

I’m Canadian & huge fan of Shaffelburg, but I think Argentina will use their expertise & experience of playing Canada previously & will likely mop the floor with them. In these big tournaments the regular heavy favourites go thru & the dark horses falter & fade away.

Argentina will win it. The experience, the toughness the grit of Argentina is unmatched. Colombia won’t be able to adapt to a game that requires grinding, Uruguay can handle it a little better but they don’t have the fire power Argentina has. Argentina doesn’t win pretty they win by grinding it out inch by inch. Can’t match that.

I'm Canadian but I'm not delusional. Argentina will win this game. I would LOVE for Canada to win but I just don't see it happening. Argentina is the greatest side in football today and the only team that can beat Argentina is Argentina. If they don't self-destruct, they're winning the whole tournament. That's all there is to say. Sure, Canada COULD win.... and I could win the next Lotto 6/49 jackpot but it ain't happening.
