My wife and I relocated to Morelia almost three years ago. She's a Mexican citizen and I'm from Reno, Nevada. It's been a wonderful, and beautiful experience. We rent a large, beautiful house in a very nice neighborhood, and can easily live on my Social Security income. The culture, architecture, the lack of stress, the people, the low cost of living, and of course, the food are all reasons to be here. The best move I've ever made! VIVA MEXICO 🇲🇽

I'm checking out Oaxaca and spending some time on the coast. When I eventually head back up to Mexico City to fly back to the States I'm checking out Morelia and Guanajuato. Got permanent residency and looking for a place to live for my first year. I am learning Spanish and have very limited capacity at this point. Thoughts re: Morelia? Thanks!

We vacationed in morelia and the corundas were sold in the market, cheap. also, you could get the white cream or red sauce. I ate mine plain. This was in the late 80s.

Must be cool to see how much has changed since then!
@sky-pv7ff5 ай бұрын
@GeorgiaandDavid it definitely changed a lot. Like they had street vendors selling their products and services, calling them out as they walked thru the streets. I miss the uniqueness of that time. I haven't been back since the 90s. But I see the changes thru the KZbin.

Hi guys ! I’m interested in Morelia as a retirement local. I watched another KZbin video that stated that at times the smell was awful . Did you guys notice any bad smells like maybe a paper mill near by or something? Thank you 😊

No we never noticed any bad smells in Morelia, we have in other cities.

We liked Morelia more than Puebla overall. However we did enjoy the food more in Puebla.

Were you able to see many stars at night in Morelia?

There weren't a ton. It is a city so there is a lot of light pollution. We saw the most in Sayulita and Puerto Escondido.

I didn't know it was possible to spend that much money in Morelia.
@GeorgiaandDavid Жыл бұрын
Start by finding an Airbnb whole house rental within 2km of the zocalo that has parking for a Jeep, green space for a dog, as well as a king or queen sized bed. Then all you have to do is eat out at a sit down restaurant almost every day. Obviously it can be done cheaper but we enjoy this lifestyle.
@dorahernandez76853 ай бұрын
Yikes! It was not so cheap. I guess it depends on what you're doing. I do, however, appreciate your videos.
@GeorgiaandDavid3 ай бұрын
We don't try to travel as cheaply as possible. We eat at a range of both affordable and fancy restaurants and we tend to rent more expensive Airbnb's for the extra comfort. You could definitely spend less. Thanks for watching!

We totally understand. You can easily spend half what we do and have an amazing time. We basically do whatever we want and we always book an Airbnb within walking distance to Centro, with off street parking, and a private garden for our dog.

you guys are going to balloon up eating all that GMO corn and booze
@GeorgiaandDavid2 ай бұрын
We enjoy the local cuisine but walking 10k steps per day and lifting weights four times a week helps us maintain a balance. GMO corn isn't used for human consumption in Mexico, it can only be used as animal feed.
@AllentheBeloved2 ай бұрын
@@GeorgiaandDavid I know AMLO wanted to ban GMO corn in Mexico, its the staple of most foods ... if animals are still eating GMO corn and you are eating the animals then you are still consuming it and its glyphosate poison but I guess its better, 95% of corn produced in the US is yellow GMO corn and its exported worldwide, its also heavily subsidized by the government to where its cheaper to buy GMO corn than for Mexican peasants to grow it in Mexico

One of the great things about Mexico is that it has options at many price points. Street tacos and restaurants in the mercados can be excellent, churches are free, and many museums are low to no cost!
