Shops here close early compared to the Philippines because, Aussies don't live in shopping malls like Filipinos do. In the Philippines, people tend to go shopping when they have nothing else to do, or on weekends. People here tend to spend weekends doing sport and if they need something, they'll buy things on the weekends or on Thursday nights. Also, you can't walk barefoot in the summer, the ground is hot. (I know. Because I've tried.) You'll burn the soles of your feet and if you're walking on grass... there are bindies. Those things are prickly and it hurts to walk on them.

Yes, it depends where you live... the weather, if there are bindies etc. The ground in Australia is cleaner than other countries... not much spitting, dog poop, rubbish etc

@@heatherwardell2501 haha... true. I was born in the Philippines. And I would never dare to walk anywhere barefoot. Besides, people would give me an evil look if I tried. 😂 although I'm not above walking in a store barefoot for 2 minutes in the Philippines. But my sister's friend caught me. Imagine the shock. 🤣

I am in a suburb of a regional town and our local supermarket its open until midnight...there are restaurants open until 9p.m. and our chemist is open until 6.30p.m. all these things are open saturday /sunday as well...mind you they are often open quite early as well...because most of us finish work between 4.30 and 5.30 there is time to run in and get stuff if needed and plenty of time to do a supermarket shop...there are no street vendors and this can make a place look closed when there is actually still lots of stuff open...also for many aussies... we leave work to go home to comfortable and well appointed houses where we relax with family...not run off to shops....love your description of dignified labour...we like to think that's true...its another aspect of shops closing early you know...those labourers deserve a life...thanks for your interesting observations and I hope you continue to enjoy living here...regards

Wow just watched your video and all I saw was a couple from another country making comparisons which is absolutely your right and I didn't hear anything that was rude or nasty. But I have to apologize as an Australian for the racist lowlifes that attacked you that was just plain embarrassing, just ignore the garbage they just have very low IQ's. You are a lovely couple and I hope you are happy and enjoying your life's Downunder. Welcome.

The population is not so big so open shops don't get much patronage after 5pm as people want to go home after work ... this includes the shopkeepers and shop employees. It is encouraged to be with your family if you can afford the time

you may find that tap water is much better for you than bottled water (1) fluoride , (2) no plastic contaminates (3) tap water is almost free , the best solution is tap water in a glass bottle , nice vid

I don't see many barefoot people in my part of Aus, but I know it does happen in smaller towns. Australian slang is fairly intuitive once you learn the basic rules. It's true most of us are alcoholics and drink too much coffee. The holiday time between work is for catching up on health, mental or physical :) I would never drink tap water in Australia. Tapwater pollution happens rarely in Australia but when it does the government wont tell you. If you live in an area where fences are rare, consider that it might be a tornado alley or cyclone risk zone.
@vdiz44563 жыл бұрын
Yeah we’re still learning slang but yeah quite intuitive. Agree with taking holiday to catch up on health!! We need that! :) thanks for the the tip regarding the tap water and fences! Thank you for watching our video! We appreciate your feedback :)

Great video, so true most of your points. I visited the Philippines a few years ago and experienced some culture shocks my self, perhaps I can make a video as well. I live in Sydney where there is a large, vibrant Filipino community. Such is their contribution to our area the local government developed a park and named it Rizal Park in honour of Jose Rizal and the hardworking Filipino community.

Many Australians drink much alcohol BUT many more drink very little, moderately or not at all. Also .. in the population there will be many non-Australians anyway, due to visitors or the multi-cultural nature of Australia.

I'm Australian and when I moved to the UK, I was staggered how much people used to drink in the pub at lunchtime. This was 35 years ago and pubs closed at 2pm so it was like the 6 o'clock swill to get as many beers in as possible in the 2 hours available.
