Nice idea and clean look! We have raggedy looking carpeting already on the doghouse in our 2014 Bounder and are looking for better ideas than just redoing the carpeting.

Hey +The Zs thank you much for the kind words! That is exactly what happened to us, we had that old dingy carpet. We'd seen a lot of people replace the carpet on them and they looked great afterward but we wanted something that almost carried over the living space into the driving area. Anyway thanks for swinging by and I hope you find something that gives you the look you are going for :). Side note - We have a post on the website where we go into more detail on how we created ours, maybe it can give you some ideas. Here's the link - mountainmodernlife.com/custom-rv-doghouse-cover/ Anyway Best Wishes - Eric

Do you have a video when you put floor down under couch chair and was there any metal base
@Mountainmodernlife6 жыл бұрын
Hey +D1andonly247 we don't actually have a video of it, but if you check out the link to our post below you'll see we have a few pictures that show how we went about putting the flooring down under the captain's chairs. mountainmodernlife.com/how-to-replace-rv-flooring/ I'd say the information and pictures you're looking for are about half way down the post. Anyway I hope this helps, but feel free to let me know if you have any questions. Best Wishes, Eric

Hey +D1andonly247 one more thing. If you want to see what it looked like before we put the chairs back you can check out this video - kzbin.info/www/bejne/eKnOlZWXjN-kh9k - you'll see below my feet how we cut the holes in the flooring for the bolts. And our chairs did have a metal base but it was attached to the chair so once we removed them the base came with it. Anyway hope this helps.

Wow, what a great idea to hide that hideous thing! Question indirectly related...how did you do the flooring in the cockpit area (more specifically, around the pedal area)? Thanks!

I have about 40 hours of labor getting all the carpet out...same setup as your 2008. Tedious but I think the vinyl planks will come out great.
@Mountainmodernlife7 жыл бұрын
You're not joking about the time it takes to get all the carpet up :). For us the vinyl planks popped right up for the most part a couple stuck but nothing like the carpet haha

I ordered the FATMAX for the dog housee and so forth...I pretty much followed your lead on stuff...did you use quarter round or just close cuts...also did you adhesive the first road on the sloideout??
@Mountainmodernlife7 жыл бұрын
We ended up using quarter round that matched the flooring on the bottom, but used a 90 degree corner edge molding for the edges going up and around the doghouse box. We didn't end up using any adhesive for the slide-out, though looking back on it, it probably would've been a good idea for extra security though we haven't had any issues.

I am gathering you replaced the original cover or is that underneath what you built? thanks
@Mountainmodernlife7 жыл бұрын
Hey +Shanon Waddingham, we actually built the new doghouse cover right over top of the original one. It worked out great because it fit perfectly by still allowing both seats to swivel, though it was really close.

I am curious about how much room you have to access the drivers seat and if the seat will swivel 180 after this project. It looks great and I like the idea but our cab is already pretty tight so not sure if this would work for us.
@Mountainmodernlife8 жыл бұрын
+Kenneth Lea Hey there, it is a bit tight when getting in the captain's chair but not much more than before. Our drivers side captains chair never quite did the full 180 (the steering wheel gets in the way even when tilted up) but it still swivels just as far as before (about 120 degrees). You can take a look at our post here, mountainmodernlife.com/updated-rv-captains-chairs/ it shows some pictures of the drivers side captain chair in place. I do want you to know that that the seat belt buckle on the right side of the chair has literally an 1/8th of an inch of clearance, so it is close. Side note the passenger seat is still able to do the full 180 turn. Thank you :)

Thanks for the response. You have a little more space for the cover (not much but some) than we do. Appreciate your info as we have a 2008 Georgetown I am considering doing almost the exact same upgrade to. Thanks again!

How do you make a frame for the doghouse
@Mountainmodernlife7 жыл бұрын
Hey +Harold Chester, if you check out this post mountainmodernlife.com/custom-rv-doghouse-cover/ on our website we go into a bit more detail on how we actually constructed the frame and the whole doghouse cover itself. I hope this helps you out but feel free to let me know if you have any questions. Best Wishes, Eric

How do you get from either seat to the rear of MH...?? No reason for it to be so big..!!!!
@Mountainmodernlife4 жыл бұрын
I'm not entirely certain what you're asking @jim s but our cover was that size because we wanted to leave the fiberglass doghouse underneath still in tact. Though we haven't had much trouble getting back and forth.
