I have a meaco arete and I have been wondering about doing this myself . I think this would be brilliant to use in caravans and motorhomes especially in the winter time to draw dampness out of them . This was a great little experiment 👍

I absolutely enjoy your experiments! This was cool and made me wonder about the moisture in my car and whether I should conduct the same experiment!

Haha thanks for the very kind comment, I really appreciate it. Will try again when it's a bit warmer! Good luck with your dehumidifier!

This was a fun video to watch as I wondered the same. We bought a Meaco 20L dehumidifier and it was a game changer, we use it mostly to dry our washing as before it would take 2-3 days to fully dry a full load of washing, now it is dry in less than 24 hours. We are also surprised at how much moisture is in the house in general, so these are great machines and worth the electricity usage!

I’ve never had that problem for years as cars didn’t have air conditioning. Make sure A/C is on and drawing air from outside. Recirculating air causes the moisture even through breathing.
@jaker315117 күн бұрын
The car's A/C is effectively a dehumidifier too. Run the car's heater so the air has more moisture holding capacity (warm air holds more moisture). At the same time run the car's A/C to condense that humid air to water which then flows to the outside if the car.

Many thanks @jaker3151 that's a great tip. When the demister is on max it automatically puts the ac on so maybe I could try running that for a long period... anyway thanks again for the kind comment, I appreciate it!
@matt799716 күн бұрын
@@DADDELIVERS I run the AC in our cars all the time, all year - our windows never steam up. Just leave it on even when it's cold and you have the heating on. The car will then be filled with hot, dry air. This keeps your AC system in good condition too - if you don't use your AC all winter, the seals with the AC unit can dry out causing leaks and loss of refrigerant.

Yes, definitely a success - half a litre is a significant amount of water particularly for quite a small area like a car compared to a room. Absolutely worth doing in the summer as it's sure to extract much more and faster for you. After watching your videos I purchased the Meaco 20L dehumidifier which has been amazing drying out my one bedroom flat. Having studied the instructions, I note that it said when you first start using the dehumidifier it will pick up the excess water in the environment/area for the first couple of days and that for some areas this collecting of excess water can take up to 4 weeks. Once that's collected less and less water should be collected. Of course there will be variables including temperature and which target relative humidity you set it at etc. I would imagine in a car, because of the upholstery there would be lots of water/ humidity that's settled within those surfaces that'll need several sessions with the dehumidifier to sort it out and then subsequent sessions to maintain the RH% you prefer.

Thanks for the very kind message @londonlady4521 - really appreciate it. Too true - really think I'll try this again when it's warmer, give it a proper drying out! And that's really great to hear about your flat - sounds perfect. Thanks again!

Few addition steps needed if the moisture / water is underneath the carpets which it very likely is. First thing would be to try and identify where / which footwell(s) are affected. Next lift the carpet as best you can (trim removal likely). Then grab yourself a fan to point underneath the lifted carpet, heat the air as best you can (running car or using a heated fan. Finally throw in the dehumidifier and leave it probably for at least 12 hours - likely 24 if possible. Oh and don’t forget to identify the original leak/water source and get it fixed.
@DADDELIVERS14 күн бұрын
Thanks for the very kind comment and suggestions Joe, really appreciate it. Have a feeling we don't have a leak, thankfully but airing under the carpets is a great idea. Thanks again!

IF the car has Air Conditioning - use the car's built in dehumidifer? when Iin those situtaions. Turn up the heat, turn on the A/C set the air to recirculate. The condensing coil will dehumidify the recuriculeted air. Don't be alarmed by the puddle of water under the car from the A/C run off.
@DADDELIVERS14 күн бұрын
Thanks for the kind suggestion @jdaraireland -- it does, and it comes on when the max windscreen clear button is on -- you've just completely reassured us about the puddle under the car we sometimes get! Thanks again

I couldn’t help but notice it’s a Ford I just bought a used focus st and it’s the same every morning it’s got condensation inside the car I think the seals are poorly made by Ford, but am trying to come up with a way to try soak up the moisture, then again am worried if I get it dried out then next car wash it will al come back again 🙄
@DADDELIVERS13 күн бұрын
Thanks for the kind comment Mark, and congratulations on the new Ford! I have a feeling that maybe the person/company selling might have deep cleaned it? Might it be liquid from that? It might be worth dehumidifying... or giving it a really really good heat and let the windows let the moisture out... - or, like many have suggested here in the comments - turning on the AC which acts as a dehumidifier... I think it's worth really drying it out to see if it stays dry? We've only had ours second hand for 6 months and it definitely had been deep cleaned... Hope this helps and good luck with your car!

I'd love to do this to my car but wouldn't work so well in mine. I have a 2007 car and it leaks into the spare wheel well, I have broken the seal on the drain plug to allow that water to drain out so at no point is there no water in my car. Everyday at the moment though my car ices up on the inside of the windscreen 🤣 Interesting experiment, I heard of a car cleaning company that puts a dehumidifier in the cars as part of there valet, much smaller than the one you used though lol
@DADDELIVERS17 күн бұрын
Oh boy, ice on the inside would be fun..! That's a great idea to do it as part of the valet... Funny that I put a dehumidifier in before a hoover... Thanks for the great comment - brilliant to hear from you @welshtony1 !

Someone might have put this already, if you have an auto mode on your control panel turn it on and leave it on. I’ve always had really bad condensation in my vehicle, until someone pointed out about the auto button in my ford. After a day of driving around with it on. I no longer wake up to the car being covered on the inside in condesation.

According to the Meaco manual, you are supposed to let the dehumidifier to stand for 6hr in a stable base before switching on. This apply to all refrigeration units. Furthermore, you might have a leak in your car.
