We have been dating for six years and have known we would be getting married eventually. The time has come to buy an engagement ring but first, we had to figure out what I wanted. The ring is perfection. The blue suits your skin tone much better than yellow. And the size is perfect as well. I'm remembering long ago I had thought I wanted an amethyst ring for a birthday. As the sales person looked at one on my hand she said, wait a minute, let's try a garnet instead. And she was so right. The purple amethyst didn't look as good on my skin coloring as the garnet did. My SO and I have been together for 25 years today. We may still may get married some day. I did get my 'official' ring about 5 years ago now. We were very lucky to have found each other a little later in life as well. Who knew it could be this fantastic? Congratulations to you both. 💕

Honestly, if you have been together that long, you probably should at least get a courthouse one. Because if either of you ends up in the hospital, the hospital is going to use next of kin for the POA. Even if it's an estranged child, they legally use those people first before they will use a boyfriend/girlfriend. So it's in your best interests to be married legally so that you don't have to worry about other family members making medical decisions.

@@CaliMel184 Appreciate your concern and you are correct. We both have wills and POA's filed with our lawyer so we're protected. You do have to think ahead so your wishes can be carried out as you wish.

Aww that was sweet. I love your ring. Thanks for sharing your story. I loved your little private French balcony when you received your ring. It must’ve been so romantic. When we got engaged I told my husband I didn’t want an engagement ring. I just wanted a gold band for a wedding ring. Then a few months later I changed my mind. I told him about a jeweller I loved. He saw the jewellery and felt the same. His rings are exquisite. So we chose one together. My husband paid off the ring. After he picked it up he took me to a lovely restaurant to give it to me. I still love it.

So fun to go along on the ride with you (vicariously of course). Would have chosen that ring for myself! Spectacular stone and color. Love everything about it. Would have guessed your ring finger to be smaller than size 6 since you're so tiny but thank goodness they had YOUR size (mine's a 4 at 5'7" with a small frame). I thought, "Oh my god, how beautiful, I'm going to cry", when Howard proposed... and then cried my eyes out. Could not believe the view that you had for the proposal that night (nothing short of amazing) and it was so sweet of Tiffany's as to their excellent customer service when you picked up your engagement ring and wedding band. The woman who assisted you in your purchase was delightful, and her eye makeup was perfect :) Thank you SO much, Monique and Howard, for sharing this beautiful once in a lifetime moment with (oh no, am tearing up again) us. Will you guys do a gardening update soon when you have some time? Summer is almost over but there are still a few good gardening months left (until maybe November here in Oregon.
